Day 340: Weigh In Labor Day Edition!

What up yoz!!!

You best be up reading my blog BECAUSE IT’S LABOR DAY TOMORROW!!! A day to celebrate the Puritans killing all the dinosaurs by forcing them off Plymouth Rock with Moonraker Lasers.

This week, I didn’t really count my points out like I should have, but I did eat healthy lunches pretty much every day and worked out a few times. It was a week that really could have gone either way. Luckily, I did alright. I lost exactly one pound! I’ll take it. I’m down to 253.8 so I’m going to work to get in to the 240’s by the end of the month which is really not out of the realm of possibility. (NSV: I just realized I wrote the 240’s and it made me happy giddy.) So far I have lost 103.2 pounds!!! or to quote my friend Jacob, it’s like losing two giant bags of dog food off of my body. So far so awesome, and the fun has just begun.

Breakfast: I had the good ol’ bowl of grape nuts to keep me full (and consequently: regular.)

Lunch: We had leftovers from Genghis last night so we did that for lunch. I actually had more for lunch today than last night so it was pretty awesome.  It also helped that I had spicy mustard at home which is my favorite Chinese condiment in the world. (Soy Sauce is for communists… just saying.)

Snack: While I was trying to read the worst textbook ever written, I had some pretzels. Sadly, the pretzels did not grant me the academic clarity I was looking for.

Dinner: Earth Fare had an awesome coupon for $2 off steak so we got a pound of sirloin for dinner. Megan cooked up some wild rice we bought a while back (also from EF) and then we bought some broccoli and cheese packets that are like a point a serving (score!) The steaks turned out really well and everything rocked as well. Pretty awesome dinner that was only $5 a person for an 8 oz steak with fixins. (And you say you can eat well for cheap.)

Dessert: During small groups, our friend Crystal made those awesome no bake/haystack “cookies” and I splurged and had like 4 of them. I know I know… bad llama. I had to eat them because the cookies told me if I didn’t they would multiply and take over the world, forcing mankind to serve the queen haystack that would reside in Glenn Close’s left nostril. (What the crap am I talking about?) In summation: oops.

So today I did alright, but nothing special. I at least at well on a meh day like this. It sucks when you don’t do well and it was because you ate random stuff that wasn’t substantial. Anyways, so next Monday (not tomorrow) will be my year anniversary of the diet. I can’t believe how much has changed in a year, but we will talk about that later. See ya tomorrow.

Day 339: College Football Awesomeness Edition

Today was the awesomeness known as the first Saturday of college football. To say I was stoked to watch my beloved Noles start their journey towards a national championship run is an understatement. We will get to that here in a bit.

Breakfast: I started the day with some grape nuts to fill me up. They were legit as always.

Tailgating Time: We had a few friends tailgating today so we made the rounds. Our friend Dani had some Popeye’s chicken (it’s evidently a NOLA tailgate tradition) so I had a piece. It was delicious. Then we went and met our friends Andrea, Lisa and Jacob who were tailgating with some folks who were hardcore (they had a TV, a Fry Daddy, the works.) I had a piece of catfish, a hotdog and some of Jacob’s lovely pasta salad.

After the Game: After we came home for the routing, I had an orange and some cherries. So awesome.

Dinner: We decided to go to Genghis Grill since we had a coupon and we knew we could make a few meals out of it. Our awesome friend Becky gave us a tip about getting the to-go box  as soon as you get your meal so we did that tonight. It makes such a difference to get the extra food out of sight out of mind. Tonight, I actually had more in my box than in my bowl. I don’t know how I used to eat a whole bowl in one sitting. I can’t wait to eat the leftovers!

So today I did pretty well, eat a few fried things, but made up for it by running up the bleachers at Doak and sweating like crazy. It’s been a crazy week with school starting so we will just see how it goes. I’m hoping for 252, but we shall see how it goes. See ya tomorrow.

Day 338: Friday Filthiness!

This is a dirty blog.

(Wait, no it isn’t!)

Who am I? Why am I here?

(I’ve lost my mind… grad school does that to a person.)

Breakfast: So I don’t have classes or work on Friday and Megan had some stuff to do on campus, so we decided to go to Jim and Milt’s for some celebratory breakfast (celebratory meaning we are glad to be alive.) Anyways, I had the cheap special of wheat toast, two eggs over easy and three strips of bacon. I tried to put hot sauce and even ketchup on the grits to try to like it but they just weren’t doing it for me so I didn’t eat them. I was a pretty good breakfast, but I knew the bacon wasn’t the best for me when I got the bacon sweats later that morning (thank goodness there weren’t a pack of dogs or starving freshmen who have only eaten ramen so far to trace my scent.)

Lunch: I wasn’t starving by lunch time since breakfast was so epic, so I made myself a spinach salad with some turkey slices, a hard boiled egg, a little EVOO, balsamic vinegar and a little cheese. I also had an orange. It was a light, but super filling lunch.

SAWS!!! This afternoon, I went and played racquetball with my friend Jonathan. He and his wife Mary just moved to Tallahassee for grad school and one of the first conversations was about racquetball so it was a match made is SAWS Heaven. Anyways, we played six intense games and I was pooped. It so felt awesome to workout and to sweat out the stress from the week. SAWS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Post Workout Snack: After racquetball, I was flippin’ starving so I came home and made a wafflewich of awesomeness. It had been a while since I’d had one so it was deliciously awesome to be reunited and it taste so good. Boom. Delicious.

Dinner: We had some leftover spaghetti (oh yeah… we had spaghetti last night, which you would have know about if I didn’t suck and not blog yesterday. Sorry I stuff at suck at stuff.)

Dessert: So we were going to see Kung Fu Panda 2 tonight with some people but that got nixed and we eventually ended up at Yogurt Mountain (via Panera Bread to which I had coffee.) Anyways, our friends Jonathan, Mary, Jacob, Daniel and Leah all went to Yogurt Mountain for some froyo magic. I had some cookie n’ cream, with some pralines froyo. I had some pretty awesome toppings too. Legit.

So today was pretty awesome. The lunch was good and the workout was better! Tomorrow is the first day of FSU football and I’m soooooo stoked. It’s going to rock. Full recap to follow. See ya tomorrow.

Day 335 Tuesday Grad School Stuff

Has a day ever slapped you in the face? Today was like that and I’m pooped with a capital poo poo.

Breakfast: I had 8 points of grape nuts. Yumness.

Lunch: While I was working on homework (yes I already have homework) I had some lunch. I just had a turkey sandwich with some grapes. Hooray for a 3 points lunch.

Snacking: life was crazy between class and work so I had a clif bar and a Nature Valley pack. Not too shabby 8 points.

Dinner: I had 11 points of leftover chili. It was awesome as always. For dessert I had some Quaker chocolate rice snacks for 2 points.

So I got to about 32 points which isn’t bad at all. I am exhausted so my desire to work out is lacking. I’m going to have more time tomorrow so I’ll make up for it tomorrow. Wordless Wednesday. Huzzah. See you tomorrow.

Day 334: Grad School Craziness All Over Again

It feels like the summer went on for eons…

Our noses are officially back to the grindstone… and my face has already been smoothed out. With the combination of my internship, classes, and my TA work (what I like to call: the trifecta of craptasticness) I’m trying to establish good habits now so I can succeed in both my school journey and my weight loss journey. I was a little overwhelmed today thinking about everything that is ahead this semester, but I keep telling myself to just take it one step at a time. Either way, I still feel blessed to even have an internship, a TA position and classes to go to so I want to make everything I do count. Game time.

Breakfast: (Do you like my awkward/constipated grad school game face? I thought you would.) This morning, I just had two servings of Nutty Nuggets which really got me through the day. I thick breakfast like that really stave’s off the 10:00 am hunger pains. 8 points.

Lunch: This year, I’m going to have to bring my lunch the majority of the time so that will help with my lunch options. This will mean lower point and healthier lunch options. I had a turkey sandwich on this awesome Publix brand shredded wheat multigrain bread. I had carrots, but I was in a Bugs Bunny mood so I had my grapes and my Clif Bar. 7 point lunch.

Snacking: When I got home, I snacked like stoner. I had baked cheetos with ketchup and pretzels with mustard. Yes, I’m a weirdo. 7 points of random snacking.

Dinner: For dinner I made some Uncle Jim’s Vegetarian Chili with brown rice. It made my day. Some meals just makes life better and that’s one of them. I only ate one serving and I was stuffed. 9 points of hearty goodness.

Dessert: There was a dollar of froyo at TCBY so we went over there for a study break (yes, we already have homework.) I didn’t have much tonight and I felt fine after so that was good. About 4 points.

So today I got to 35 points which is high but it is what it is. I should have just cut out the cheetos which were 4 points but sometimes something like that just sounds good. I didn’t exercise which sucks so I’m going to rectify that. My schedule is bonkers so if I don’t make time for it, it’s not going to happen. Once I get in to a rhythm, life will be better. See ya tomorrow.

Day 333: Weigh In G Skillet!

Why Hello!

I know I know, no post on Saturday? I’m such a jerk. You know you still love me… right (please don’t leave me. I’m needy.)

So this past week I really put a focus of kick starting good habits before life gets insane again and it has made a big difference. I’m in a better mind set of looking towards the future and how making the right choices now will benefit tomorrow. This week I lost 2.6 pounds! I am officially back in the 100 pounds club and that is where I’m going to stay! I am officially down 102.2 pounds at at 254.8 pounds. (254 is my old area code. Shout out to the Hilltop what what!) Tonight, my friend David said that I have almost lost him which really blew my mind away. I have almost lost an adult male. This is craziness. This week, I’m going to shoot for 252. I think if I keep my mind on a figure, it will help me make good decisions in the week. Game time yo’s!

Breakfast: One thing I have been doing is eating a big breakfast so I won’t be starving during the rest of the day. This morning was no exception. Last week, we finally used the waffle iron we got for our wedding so I decided to make some waffles this morning with bacon and eggs. It was pretty epic. I eventually turned it in to a sandwich and the Fotographing Fat Kid said “nom nom nom nom” (Translation: “it was good.”)

Lunch: After church, we went to Momo’s with some friends for church. Like the last time we went, they set up a buffet (aka, two ginormous pizzas) for us. I held myself to two slices (which were the size of Roman city-states) of bacon and of pepperoni. It was pretty awesome. I wasn’t really hungry until about an hour ago.

Dinner: For small group tonight, our friend Ana made an epic lasagna for everyone, but we had to go so we took a piece home. After the last bite, I realized I hadn’t taken a picture of it. Fail. Regardless, it was pretty awesome so thank you Ana. Anyways, I also made a salad for dinner with some spinach, a little cheese, turkey, and a little olive oil and balsamic vinegar. I can’t wait to try that again with a hard boiled egg which would be an omelet salad?

Dessert: I had a little (a scoop) slow churned chocolate chip cookie dough that’s half the fat of regular ice cream but with all the awesome taste.

So today I did alright and tomorrow I will be back in the throws of it so to speak. School starts tomorrow, so the temptation of grazing at home will be lessened which will be awesome. I’m also ready to start back up Insanity tomorrow. It should be epically awesome. See ya tomorrow.

Day 331: Friday Stuff

MEOW!

Breakfast: I had two servings of grape nuts which made life bearable. More and more I’ve realized that the bigger the breakfast the better. I usually work until 1 pm and when I eat more for breakfast I don’t snack at work. Novel idea huh?

Lunch: I came home to a pretty simple, but nonetheless delicious, lunch. Sometimes, there’s nothing better than a turkey sandwich. For dessert I had a Kashi bar. Pretty awesome.

SAWS!!! This afternoon, I went and played racquetball with our campus minister Adam and Jonathan, who is just about to start grad school at FSU. We play five rough games of cut throat which was exhausting, but nothing like sweating out awesomeness.

Dinner: It’s been a while since we have grilled, so we finally decided to give it a shot. Earth Fare had a sale on boneless chicken breasts so we cut them up and Megan made this awesome rub with brown sugar and other deliciousness. So I grilled the chicken and Megan sauteed some zucchini and squash. It was a pretty awesome dinner.

So today was pretty good. Yumtastic. See ya tomorrow.

Day 328: SAWSing Through Complacency

What up yo!

If this is your first time on my blog, welcome and thanks for stopping by! Be sure to check out my facebook page as well for more of the silly things I say.

Breakfast: I knew that it was going to be a while before lunch so I decided to eat a good breakfast. I decided to have two servings of Back to Nature Cherry Pecan cereal. It was fantastic and really filling. It was 8 points and it held me over until lunch!

Lunch: After I got to work, I came home to an awesome lunch made by my awesome wife! She made a grilled turkey and cheese with some tomato soup. It was also fantastically awesome. Yumtastic and lunch with a cornbread muffin with some honey as a dessert was 8 points.

Snacks: I had a Clif Bar (which I am in love with) and I also had 2 points of almonds. It was a great afternoon snack.

Dinner: We have a bunch of leftovers left… over of bean soup so we had that for dinner with a few cornbread muffins. It was as good as usual. Loved it. 10 points.

SAWS!!!! Today, I was not feeling it. I was just hit hard with being tired of my weight loss journey. When you have to keep being “on” all the time it just gets hard. Last week I boasted that I wasn’t panting during Insanity, and I realized that it wasn’t because I am some workout beast, it’s because I haven’t been working as hard as I should. Today, I laid it all on the table and boy did it pay of. By the end of the warm up, I was sweating out of every orifice and during the rough parts I was praying for death. I was finally doing Insanity the way I should be. I used to think that if I didn’t wake up sore after a workout I wasn’t working hard enough and somewhere I’ve lost sight of that. I am now back in that mindset and it feels like I’m really accomplishing something. It feels good to be back on the SAWS Wagon once again. 9 exercise points.

Snack: Immediately after Insanity, Megan made us some smoothies with a banana and strawberries. Pretty awesome stuff. 3 points.

Snack: When we were watching the King’s Speech (which I loved!) I had a yogurt ice cream blend of chocolate chip cookie dough. It was the perfect movie snack 3 points.

So today I got to 43 points which is a lot but with the exercise points and my quest to eat my weekly points as well means I’m okay. Wordless Wednesday. Get stoked. See ya tomorrow.
