Day 385A: Where The Crap Have You Been? Edition

[Insert so witty comment about blogging here]

So this kidney stone of a week has finally passed. It was painful when it was building up to this point and boy did it hurt when I got it our of my system. What’s on the agenda now? MORE HOMEWORK! The fun never stops here in Tallahassee (even when you’ve stopped and you’ve had enough.) [Insert Micheal Jackson dance move here.] Anyways, my eating this week has been pretty rough. I’ve tried to keep it in check, but it’s been hard with being so busy which has lead to eating out and grazing like a boss. However, soda has not touched these lips (no matter how tempting it’s been.) I have discovered the awesomeness known as flavored seltzer water which has no calories and no sodium so I’ve been throwing that back a lot this week. I’m finally going to get some exercise in this weekend with racquetball today and a morning run tomorrow. I’m running a 5k next Friday evening so I really need to get in to training mode to record a good time. I also still need to figure out my costume for too. Any suggestions? I really like the idea of just wearing a Flash shirt. It will be funny and ironic all in one. Hmmmm…

Anyways, in lieu of a Wordless Wednesday and such, here are a few pics from this week. Please note the food truck pics. Last night, we went out with some my friends from my department to this lot around Lake Ella where food trucks camp out on Thursday nights. Hipsters aside, it was pretty awesome. From a pulled pork taco with chipotle mac n’ cheese on top and a grilled pb and j, it was a good night. So ladies and gents, I give… PICTURES OF THINGS AND STUFF!

Day 380: Monday

So no, it’s not my birthday, but today I did realize that I was going to be 25 in January. It terrified the crap out of me. Am I going to have a quarter life crisis like John Mayer? It just kind of hit me like a ton of bricks. It was just a weird realization to have. Even though it was a sad realization, it was not a bleak realization like it was two years ago. In my old life, the word “if” was a caveat. I would think about 40 years down the road and think “if I’m still able to walk.” “If I’m even still alive.” Depressing thoughts like that about if I can make it to 62. My grandma is 94 so I have the genetic make up to live that old, so why I wouldn’t make it that far in life it would be my own undoing, me abusing my body with food and lack of exercise.

The difference between then and now is that I love myself now enough to not to die for some disease that would be cured by diet and exercise. I know a lot of people say it, but I really was watching my life go by. I let it go by by not passing up on the junk food and other crap I was putting in my body. If you feel like I did back then, really evaluate where your life is going and do something about it. You got this!

Breakfast: I just had some grape nuts and granola. Deliciousness.

Lunch: I really need to bring my own lunch again. Today I bought a pizza lunchable from the Circle K across campus. It was not as good as I remember, but it was still okay I guess. Like I said, I need to bring my own lunch again.

Snacks: When I got home, I had some sunflower seeds and a Fiber One bar that was flippin’ awesome. I think the key to my success last week was not grazing through out the week and I need to work on that again this week.

Dinner: Last week, we bought some sirloin at The Fresh Market so we finally cooked those babies up. They turned out really well! I cooked up two pounds so Megan split a pound and then I cooked the other one for fajitas tomorrow. I’m so stoked.

So like I said, I really need to work on my grazing keep it in check because at this point I don’t have enough points to eat that much. We will just see how it all goes. See ya tomorrow.

Day 378: Saturday!

(I really need to be better about this whole blogging thing…)

So today was pretty good. It might have been the first time ever that I have to do homework on a Saturday. This semester is going to kill me. Anyways, I’m hoping my Rangers will be able to pull out the W tonight, but I guess we’ll see how it goes. (THEN THEY BOOMSTICKED A 9 RUN INNING!) Good times.

Breakfast: I had a mix of grape nuts and Back to Nature granola which was BOGO at Publix. It was a super awesome combo 0f deliciousness.

Lunch: Megan was going to get her hair did and dyed at the mall so we went to Jimmy John’s for some subtasticess. I had the Beach Club with half the mayo. It was yummy as always.

Snack: After Megan got her hair awesomefied, we went to Target so I could buy some new clothes. At this point, I’m done to about three shirts that actually fit. The rest are pretty baggy. Anyways, we got some Starbucks in Target. I got my classic Venti Iced Caramel Machiatto. It’s been a long time since I had had any Starbucks so it was delicious.

Dinner: We decided to grab a light dinner out so we went to Red Elephant. Although they’re known for their pizzas, they have this awesome oriental salad with seared tuna. This time, we also tried their spinach artichoke chip which was awesome! A pretty awesome dinner.

So today wasn’t too bad with food. I’ve been drinking my water this week and for the most part I’ve been staying within my points. I think I gained last week because of my high stress last week but we’ll see if my mellowing this week will help out. Here’s hoping for an awesome loss. See ya tomorrow.

Day 374: Sunday Weigh In

Wait, I do what? I blog about food I eat? That’s ridiculous!

Oh yeah… I do that… sometimes.

The second half of this week was stupendously stressful and exhausting. Unfortunately, there is no end in sight to that nonsense known as grad school. I would have been blogging this weekend, but my computer cord was messing up and Megan had the other one when she was gone. Frankly, it’s been really hard to blog when you’re on a computer all day writing and reading. Not to mention by the time I get home I am completely exhausted from life. I need to figure out how to balance everything because this has been a crucial key to my success so far. Speaking of success, talk to talk about failing (he said half jokingly.) Last night I weighed before I went to bed and I was 249 exactly. Usually, that means you will lose some by morning. Evidently, I hadn’t made up the calories from my killer 10k run because when I weighed in this morning I was 249 exactly again. I gained 1.4 pounds this week. I was surprised, but it is what it is. I had two good weeks in a row, but I’m going to get back to it this week. If I’m not able to work out (which was the case this week) I really need to be close with my points so I can drop some pounds.

Breakfast: I had a wafflewich, but the bananas we bought were really bad for some reason so it was meh.

Lunch: I was living the bachelor life for lunch so I had spaghetti-o’s and a grilled cheese. It was pretty simple but pretty delicious.

Dinner: It was one of those makeshift dinner nights (you know how those are, you look deep within your pantry for that thing you bought that one time.) A while back (like a year ago) I bought this veggie burger mix where you just add water, let it settle, and then make patties. They were pretty good, especially with the beans.

So today was pretty good, but I just felt weird the whole day. Like I said, tomorrow I shall dominate. It will be an awesome sight. See ya tomorrow.

Day 368: Monday and Stuff

I’m exhausted, and I have a bunch to do. Let’s get to it.

Breakfast: I had a wafflewich without the naner. It was delicioustastic. 4.5 points

Lunch: I had a Smart One Szechuan Chicken and it made everyone in the office jealous. It was pretty good, but it definitely  smelled better than it tasted. For dessert, I had a Stoneyfield yogurt with chocolate. It looked kind of gross, but after I stirred it pretty well it was pretty good. I did bring some pretzels, but I ended up not eating them. 7 points.

Snack: When I got home, I made some tea and had a bagel with 1/3 fat cream cheese and this awesome four berry jam we bought a while back. 3 points.

Snack: 2 points of jerky. Awesome.

SAWS!!!: Megan and I decided go for a run to get ready for 5k season. By the time we ran, it was getting cool and pretty breezy so the first mile I over did it a little because I was sucking cold air like crazy. Either way, I had one of my best times so it all worked out. I want to cut my time down a bit before the end of the semester for the Trick or Trot 5k on the 29th. I really want to break the 30 minute mark. Better get to it. 7 exercise points.

Dinner: It was definitely a steak night. So. Awesome. Megan made some light mashed potatoes with chicken broth that were pretty good too. We topped it off with a little ice cream after which made it the perfect meal. 13 points

So on my first real day of 28 points actually we really well. I got to 29.5 points so with the exercise points I’m good. I still might have a healthy snack like a banana because I still feel a little weak. Anyways, GO RANGERS! See ya tomorrow.

Day 367: Ballin Weigh In Edition

Sup G Awesomes!

Today has been brought to you by the letter “awesome.” Awesome weather, awesome relaxing and an awesome weigh in! Yes, I did say awesome weigh in… I dropped 3 pounds this week! These back to back weeks losses is pretty insane. So now I’m down to 247.6 and it feels great. So with this drop below the 250 mark (a place I haven’t been in since who knows when) I only get 28 points a day which is crazy considering I started with an allotment of 34 points a day. I know it’s not a lot, but now I really have to eat my weekly points (35 extra points to use through out the week) so I won’t starve myself and in fact gain weight. I can’t wait to lose some more this week! BOOM!

Breakfast: This morning, we sat out on our porch in the frigid 50-some degree morning sipping on coffee and eating out 1 point bagel thins with a little low fat cream cheese. It was awesome. At church today, two different awesome ladies, Ana and Tara, made pumpkin cake and there were both equally awesome as well.

Lunch: After church, our Young Professionals group went out to Lake Jackson and had a picnic. Everyone just brought a sack lunch so we ran over to Subway before we went out there. I had the oven “fried” chicken sub with Southwest Chipotle sauce. It was ooey-gooey deliciousness.

Snack: I had a cup of berry yogurt which was awesome.

Dinner: Megan made a WW classic meal tonight: orange chicken! It was perfect with a little white rice. Definitely a great and filling meal.

Dessert: It was 30 cents an ounce at TCBY tonight so we went over there for some froyo awesomeness. It’s been a while since we have done self-serve, which in hindsight might be for the best. I went a little overboard with the toppings, but I didn’t put too much froyo in there. I think I need to go back to just getting a small or child’s cup.

So today wasn’t too bad, but could have been better. Tomorrow, we are going to start working out in the morning and see how that goes. I think we are going to get back to Insanity and at least do it a few days a week along with some cardio in there. Anyone interested in playing racquetball at 6:15 am some time? (Seriously, if you are interested let me know.) See ya tomorrow.

Day 366: FALL!!!

IT ACTUALLY FEELS LIKE FALL OUTSIDE!

It’s been in the mid 70’s and right now it’s even cooler! It feels so awesome to have a break from the heat and the humidity (aka: the bane of my existence.) So today was a pretty awesome day. It was a much needed day of rest from a week of craptasticness. Alright, game time…

Breakfast: I bought some multigrain Eggos from Walmart and they are just not near as good as the Publix ones. Anyways, luckily I found another jar of organic peanut butter and the date was good so I had a wafflewich with out the banana.

Lunch: We had a meeting at our campus minister’s house and they made us chili! It was pretty awesome, but Crystal’s pumpkin pie took the… (pie?) for the meal. It officially felt like fall. And it was good.

SAWS!!! Since it was so awesome outside, we decided to go for a power walk at Lake Ella park. We walked about 3 miles and it felt awesome because when you sit down all day, your hip flexors are really tight. I didn’t get to workout this week so it was nice to get out and about!

Dinner: Tonight, we wanted to have a very fall-like meal so we decided to go with grilled cheese and tomato soup. It was the perfect way to end the perfect day.

So today wasn’t that bad but I’m not sure how the weigh in is going to go down tomorrow. Like I said earlier, I didn’t get to work out because of my leg and I’ve been sickly, but my lunches have been mostly fruits and pretzels so we’ll just see. Sorry I didn’t blog at all this week. Don’t take it personal. See ya tomorrow.

Day 365A: A make up post

Sup my meowtastic munchies! (Wait… what?)

So I haven’t blogged this week because it was the workload from the hot place (and I don’t mean Houston) and I have gotten progressively sicker through out the week. I’m still holding on to the belief that it’s allergies, but we’ll see. Any home remedies? Anyways, I’ve been keeping hydrated like a boss because if I don’t I get super dried out which is a terrible feeling. (Someone said we should get a humidifier, but I refuse to do that on principle since I basically lived in the desert when I was in middle school and we didn’t have one then.) So this post is going to cover Wordless Wednesday (just act like this paragraph isn’t here) and then photos from yesterday which includes dinner at our friends Emma and Stacy’s house. They introduced us to their awesome taco soup recipe with ground turkey. It was flippin’ fantastic! (We introduced them to the awesomeness known as Little Big Planet, it was a sight to be seen!) Well, I’m going to stop talking now. Enjoy this post, and check back later tonight for more blogging awesomeness. (Alright! Double Prizes!)

Day 361 Monday G!

Hello my little monsters! (oh wait, wrong alias…)

So today was a welcome to week slap in the face when I realized all the crap I had to do from readings to case studies to any other random stuff coming my way. I didn’t think I was going to get to watch my Cowboys play, but I budgeted my assignments to certain days to make it all manageable. I feel like you have to do that with weight loss. It’s intimidating to look at Mt. Fitintoskinnyjeans, no matter what your goal weight is, and think “how the crap am I going to do this?” It is important to allocate your calories, make time for your exercise and sticking to it even when you ate too many calories that day and your treadmill has become an annex of your closet. Life happens, that is nothing new. How you deal with it though is the biggest key to success. Alright, time to completely contradict everything I just said by talking about my food today.

Breakfast: I mixed Uncle Sams Chock Fill of Cardboard with Grape Nuts for a pretty awesome cereal combination. 8 points.

Lunch: I just had some more leftover pizza. I’m so glad there is none left. I love me some pizza, but like a good townie, it gets greasier with age. I had two slices for 12 points.

Snacks: Megan made some awesome cookies yesterday so I ended up eating my share of them. Today I ate… 8 points worth.Yikes.

Snacks: I also had some ants on a log without the ants. I put some (what I now know is expired) peanut butter on some celery. It was pretty awesome. 2.5 points.

Dinner: Megan made one of my favorite meals today. Yes, she made creamy stovetop mac n’ cheese. It was the bee’s knees like nobody’s business, especially when you sprinkle some cayenne on top! I had a serving and a bit so it was 8 points.

When I post about this delicious creamy awesomeness, people always ask me for the recipe. So I’ll make you a deal, I’ll post the recipe tonight on The Fotographing Fat Kid Official Facebook Page tonight, if you like my page. Sounds fair? I thought so. See you there!

Okay, so I know it looks bad (because it is) but I do want to point out the difference of quality and quantity of what 8 points can get you: 2 1/4 cup of mac n’ cheese, a cup of super fiber cereal and four measly cookies. I think it really puts everything in to perspective of how you have to be aware of what you are putting in your body during the day. So yeah, today was a ghastly 38.5 points which is rough, but thankfully I have weekly points so and since we don’t have any more pizza, I’ll have better lunches. There’s still a lot of week left so I’m not sweating… yet ;). See ya tomorrow.
