If this is your first time on my blog, welcome and thanks for stopping by! Be sure to check out my facebook page as well for more of the silly things I say.
Breakfast: I knew that it was going to be a while before lunch so I decided to eat a good breakfast. I decided to have two servings of Back to Nature Cherry Pecan cereal. It was fantastic and really filling. It was 8 points and it held me over until lunch!
Lunch: After I got to work, I came home to an awesome lunch made by my awesome wife! She made a grilled turkey and cheese with some tomato soup. It was also fantastically awesome. Yumtastic and lunch with a cornbread muffin with some honey as a dessert was 8 points.
Snacks: I had a Clif Bar (which I am in love with) and I also had 2 points of almonds. It was a great afternoon snack.
Dinner: We have a bunch of leftovers left… over of bean soup so we had that for dinner with a few cornbread muffins. It was as good as usual. Loved it. 10 points.
SAWS!!!! Today, I was not feeling it. I was just hit hard with being tired of my weight loss journey. When you have to keep being “on” all the time it just gets hard. Last week I boasted that I wasn’t panting during Insanity, and I realized that it wasn’t because I am some workout beast, it’s because I haven’t been working as hard as I should. Today, I laid it all on the table and boy did it pay of. By the end of the warm up, I was sweating out of every orifice and during the rough parts I was praying for death. I was finally doing Insanity the way I should be. I used to think that if I didn’t wake up sore after a workout I wasn’t working hard enough and somewhere I’ve lost sight of that. I am now back in that mindset and it feels like I’m really accomplishing something. It feels good to be back on the SAWS Wagon once again. 9 exercise points.
Snack: Immediately after Insanity, Megan made us some smoothies with a banana and strawberries. Pretty awesome stuff. 3 points.
Snack: When we were watching the King’s Speech (which I loved!) I had a yogurt ice cream blend of chocolate chip cookie dough. It was the perfect movie snack 3 points.
So today I got to 43 points which is a lot but with the exercise points and my quest to eat my weekly points as well means I’m okay. Wordless Wednesday. Get stoked. See ya tomorrow.
Today was just a crazy day of craziness which usually entails a lot of snacking and binge eating. I was able to hold my ground today to maintain the momentum from last night. It was good to reexamine where I am in my weight loss journey. My struggle with food will always be there. It’s not like smoking where there is a patch to ease you off (what would a weight loss patch have in it? Olive oil? Splenda? Some of Jenny Craig’s Tears? Hmmmm) and eventually you are done with it. Eating is something you have to do everyday to survive so it’s an issue you face every meal. I’m not saying that if I stopped counting I would go off the deep end and end back up where I started, but that’s because I have this community that wouldn’t let me, but you can look back in my posts and the weigh in that week directly correlates with how I did with food and exercise that week. So anyways, today was a struggle emotionally, but I didn’t let my emotions bleed in to my eating habits, because gorging myself with food to feel good is no longer apart of me. The old me’s dead and gone… dead and gone. (TI is legit.)
Alright, where was I…
Breakfast: So this morning was a bit nutzo, but I was still able to have an awesome breakfast. I made a pb and banana toast sandwich with bread from Publix that doesn’t have an expiration date on it. (The mold growing inside the bag looked up at me and said it was okay to eat.) Breakfast was a filling and delicious 4 points.
Lunch? I had to run errands during a lunch break that I actually work during and since I hadn’t packed a lunch this morning (super fail on this schmucks part) I had a Nature Valley bar and a Diet Coke from the Circle K by campus. Plus I got to see my friend Lindsey so that was an added bonus. Anyways, it held off the hunger demons for a while until I could get off work. 4 points.
Snack: After I got home from work, I had a cup of mutligrain cheerios. They really tied me over. 2 points.
Dinner: So for the rest of the day when I was doing stuff around the house, all I could smell was the bean soup cooking in the kitchen and it was driving me crazy! So when it was done, we consumed, and it was good. 1/2 cup was only 2 points and so were the cornbread muffins so I had 18 points worth of dinner which sounds like alot (which it is) but considering I had only had 10 points up until that point, I was pretty hungry. It was a super awesome filling dinner.
SAWS! Today, we got back in to Insanity and it was a blast! (No! Really!) I did the Fit Test today and I did better on some, but stayed the same on other exercises. Megan thinks that it might be focusing more on form than the first day. I felt like I should have pushed myself a little more, but I still sweated like crazy. I’m going to go super SAWSIAN (the SAWS version of super sayian) tomorrow which is going to be rough. Hooray. 6 exercise points
After SAWS Snacking: I had a Clif Bar after my workout, and it was filling, but I need something to munch without the calories. Megan made some stove popped popcorn without any salt and it was the perfect snack where it feels like you’re eating something like chips while you’re eating something healthier instead. 8 points total.
So today I got to 36 points which means I ate my exercise points which will work of me. See ya tomorrow.
Sorry for being a jerk and having such an epic post on Sunday and then not following up on Monday. I’ve been reading the last Harry Potter and I finally finished it yesterday (I read for 4 hours straight) so we could go see the movie. Megan and I made a date out of so we went to Andrew’s 228 downtown (Groupon FTW) and then went to a 10:00 showing so by the time I got home it was way past my bedtime (hooray for being old!) Anyways, but it was great to go out and just celebrate how bless we have been this past year. Alright, back to food stuffs.
Breakfast: I had two waffles with pb. Why mess up a good thing?
Lunch: I was working through lunch today so I ate a desk. I had a turkey sandwich with some cocoa almonds and oatmeal squares (separate, they are awesome. Together, they are epic.) Then I had a Kashi Peanutty Chocolate bar for dessert. Pretty awesome.
Dinner: We went to dinner with our campus minister and good friend Adam to Jimmy John’s for some sub awesomeness. I introduced him to my favorite sub, the Beach Club. It was awesome as always.
Victory: So word on the street is that I have officially lost 100 pounds (holla!) and it’s been making wonder how I could visualize that not for the blog but for myself. Right now, it still doesn’t feel like it has actually happened. So when we were grocery shopping at Publix, I found this huge 20 pound bag of rice and I picked it up. I have lost 5 bags this size off of my body in under a year and really by just tweaking my lifestyle. Do I not eat as much fast food burgers? No. Do I miss it? NO! Do I dread going to the gym? Sometimes. Do I feel awesome after I make myself go? HECK FREAKIN’ YEAH! It hasn’t been a cake walk (because if there was a pathway made of cake involved I would have ate it) but it’s something totally doable and even if you just want to look good in that mankini you have hidden in your closet, you will never regret it. And this is what I leave you with for this post. Whatever goal you have in mind, create a plan to achieve that goal and conquer it! See ya tomorrow.
P.S. There will be a Wordless Wednesday video tomorrow. Get stoked.
I did what I could this week and I had a goal in mind. Now what? IT MADE ALL THE DIFFERENCE!!! This week, I didn’t just meet my goal weight, I FREAKIN’ BLEW IT OUT TO THE WATER!!! I have officially joined the Century Club and boy does it feel fantastic! It took me a total of 48 weeks to do it, which included many highs and many lows, but with the support of my family, my church family, my awesome friends, random friends who I frankly did think would even care, strangers on the Internet, my beautiful wife who bought the scale when I didn’t want her to, and my faith in God, I have made it more that half way through my weight loss journey. Thank you thank you thank you all so much for your caring words, wall posts, accountability, and giving me advice all along the way. The race is not finished however, there is still a lot of progress to be made. Thankfully, God has blessed me with you dear reader and the support you bring, along with the tenacity to keep it going even when those chocolate covered pork rinds look good. I love every single one of you, thank you.
So anyways, I lost a total of 3.8 pounds this week which was a shock to me frankly. When I went to bed last night, I really hadn’t a clue about how it was going to go. At this point, I have lost a total of 101.2 pounds. (It was really weird to write that one in front of those numbers.) Like I said earlier, I’m less than 100 pounds away from my goal. I want to get down to 157ish, but we will see when I get closer where I’ll be. Wherever I end up I do know this, no matter how skinny I end up being, I will never abuse my body with food and that I’m going to be active for as long as my body will hold out. Get stoked.
Breakfast: I just had a wafflewich without the bananas which was delicious. Yumtastic!
Lunch: After church, we went over to Qdobas with some people from church since we had a BOGO coupon. Holla! I had the Craft 2 which is two entrees for pretty cheap. I had the Naked Burrito and the nachos. It was pretty delicious.
Non-Scale Victory: So the deal was when I broke 100 pounds, I was going to buy new work out clothes. Luckily, I broke it on the weekend of Tax Free Weekend in Florida! Anyways, I bought a new pair of Under Armour shorts, an UA compression shirt and this awesome workout shirt made by the brand Thrive. Don’t worry, pics to come (like tomorrow. Get ready for awesomeness.)
Dinner: For dinner, I just had a beach club at Jimmy John’s. Awesome as always.
So today was pretty good with food and tomorrow I’ll get back at Insanity. I’m ready to lose some more! See ya tomorrow.
Breakfast: On Saturday mornings, I like to make a big breakfast. It was a tradition my parents always did and I definitely want to keep it going. Anyways, I made eggs, bacon and toast. A while back, we bought this delicious organic berry jam from Earth Fare so I finally tried it and it was awesome on the toast. A pretty standard, yet filling, breakfast.
Lunch: We weren’t sure what to do about lunch, but we finally decided on Pita Pit since it’s kind of close to our house. I had the Chicken Crave (chicken with ham, how much better can it get? Seriously.) with spinach, onions, tomatoes, sprouts, cucumbers, provolone and tzatziki sauce in a wheat pita. It was pretty epic and I was really full by the time I was done.
SAWS!!!: There was a girl who was moving in to a new apartment in Tallahassee that needed help moving so we went over there to help her out. Luckily, she only lived on the second floor so there was only one flight of stairs, albeit rather narrow. So between half a hour of heavy lifting and the Amazonian climate of Tallahassee, I got my sweat in today. After we helped her move, I got some kombucha (this fermented tea that’s suppose to be really good for you and is freakin’ delicious) from Earth Fare.
Dinner: Earlier this morning, we went to the Tallahassee farmer’s market downtown. When it comes to veggies, we always go this sweet old couple who have the best veggies and jams ever. We bought 5 tomatoes, 2 zuchinis, 5 yellow squash, a red and a green pepper, and about 10 red potatoes for $12.50. Not bad for some of the best veggies I’ve ever had (especially the red pepper.) We also bought some of their canned pepper jelly which is fantastic. Anyways, we Megan made an awesome dinner with roasted veggies, her lite mashed potatoes, and chicken. It was a fantastic dinner, plain and simple.
Dessert: We went and saw the movie “The Tree of Life” (which is a completely awesome mind blow) but we got over to the movie too early so we went to Fuzions, a froyo place that we had actually never been to before. We randomly saw our friend Sarah at the theater so she joined us as well! Anyways, the froyo is not as creamy as other places, but they did have some decadent toppings like cut up cheesecake slices and raw cookie dough. I went the healthier route and had taro with strawberries, blueberries, and blackberries. It was nice to do a lighter option for a change. I really need to get back in to doing that.
Evening Snacking: After the movie, our friends the Wises, who we went with to see the movie, hadn’t eaten dinner so we joined them at Five Guys to discuss what the crap “The Tree of Life” was about. Anyways, I just had a Diet Coke with their complimentary peanuts. I put a few in my drink like I used to do. I don’t know if it’s just a Texas thing, but growing up, I would always have peanuts in my Coke. It’s the original meal replacement drink. So anyways, I don’t know why I decided to but it was pretty good.
So today I was really good. I think I was around 1500 calories for the day which isn’t too bad at all. Like I said earlier, I just don’t know what is going to happen tomorrow with Senor Scale, but I do know this: I will survive, the weight will come off, and I have a crapton of support from readers like you. See ya tomorrow.
P.S.
A while back, I submitted my weight loss/complete life change story to Earth Fare for their “Be Inspired” section. It was selected and they sent me a $50 gift card and yesterday, the post finally made it to the site! I was so surprised to see it on there and it felt awesome. You should go check it out!
Breakfast: I went to work a little later so I actually had time to make some breakfast. I made a Denver-like omelet sandwich. It was really just a fried egg, two slices of ham and some cheese on two pieces of toast. So awesome. I also had some spicy ketchup for dipping. Again, so awesome.
Lunch: I didn’t get to have lunch until around 1:30 (I was super starving with a capital famished) but I had a sandwich, some cocoa dusted almonds and a banana. It was pretty awesome. Sack lunches FTW!
SAWS!!! I was going to do Insanity in the morning, but sleeping is way more enticing (as it always is) so I went straight to it after I got off work. Today was cardio recovery which sounds not as bad (which is what I thought) but it was more like super yoga. Stretching is so painful sometimes, and today was one of them. It felt good to get deep in to those stretches though. It’s one of those things if you just stick with the painful stretch a little past the pain, it feels fantastic!!! And as you can see, I was sweaty. SAWS!
Dinner: Megan made this awesome curry chicken with basmati rice. It was fantastic. It was probably the best Indian whatever it was (I think it was curry but I’m not sure.) I have ever had.
Dessert: Tonight we had a dessert and coffee night with the young professionals from our church. Everyone brought delicious awesome treats including a cookie cake from Great American Cookie that had the word “legit” frosted across it. Luckily, our great friend Sharon brought some fruit (she asked if that counted as a dessert and I was like TOTALLY!) so that really helped me with all the sweets. I did steal some caramel corn and these low fat cranberry bars Megan had made, but overall I held my own.
So today wasn’t that bad. It helps when you have a goal in mind for your weigh to keep on track. I’m shooting for an awesome Saturday. See ya tomorrow.
Today, it’s been kind of hard not to jump on the scale and see where I’m at. Thursday is usually my day to take a sneak peak, but my trusty post-it note that said “DON’T STEP ON ME!” kept me at bay. The power of the post-it notes people, the power of post-it notes.
Breakfast: I went with the classic Wafflewich for breakfast. I was going to make bacon and eggs, but I just ran out of time. (Am I the only one where time speeds up 10x faster? So much fun!)
Snack: I was starving at work so I had a Nature Valley granola bar. Awesome as always.
Lunch: After work, Megan and I went over to Tijuana Flats since we had a BOGO coupon. It’s been a long time since we had been there so it was good to go back. They have a light option menu so I had the under 500 calorie chargrilled chicken burrito. We also got an order of chips and salsa (mine wasn’t suppose to come with chips but they gave me some anyway. Holla!) and it was the size of a bag of chips so we used them for dinner. For dessert I had some cherries.
SAWS!!!: I am back on the Insanity wagon since Leach is closed and today was a doozey! I did the Plyometric Cardio Circuit today. I think it’s my least favorite one (who am I kidding? I hate all of them.) but that’s probably because it pushes me the hardest. I’m not going to lie and say Insanity is easy, but man do I feel awesome after I’m done which makes it all totally worth it!
Dinner: I had a taco salad with leftover taco meat from last night, chips from lunch and some guacamole. It was freakin’ fantastic! There is nothing like eating a healthy and hearty dinner after a hard workout.
So today was a pretty good. I feel great, and I’m pumped to get through the rest of the week. See ya tomorrow.
(P.S. Have you checked out my Fotographing Fat Kid Facebook site?)
