Day 256: It’s Friday Friday Gotta Get Down on Friday

Hooray for Friday!

Yes it is true. I’m glad it’s hear but that means class is almost done and then we will be going to Texas!!! (We we we we we so excited!) Anyways, today I felt really out of whack and I still haven’t really pinpointed what it is. I think I have this paper hanging over me and I’m really really really trying to work on it instead of waiting until the last day to work on it. Yet again, old habits die hard. So we will see. Tomorrow I plan on just locking myself in my house (go for a run in the morning) and then go bonkers on this thing so I can be on with my life! Plus, I keep worrying about if I’ve lost weight which in the past that has made the weight loss that week suck so whatever. This always happens at the end of a semester so I’ll keep doing what I’m doing and then be better next week and really the rest of the summer when I’ll have nothing to do. Alright, enough whining. Let’s do this thang!

Breakfast: I cooked an egg over hard and then warmed up some fake sausage patties and had a sausage MacMuffin. It was awesome as always. 5 points.

Lunch: My college minister and I met up for lunch today and I suggested Mr. Roboto’s because I was jonesin’ for some curry. I had the red curry with tofu and it was awesome. Their tofu is like a fried egg and the broccoli soaks up all of the curry. It is a beautiful thing that makes me tear up just thinking about it. Adam and I had a great conversation so add that to some amazing curry it was a legit lunch. 12 points

Snack: At some point I had 1 point of chips (like a small handful.)

NSV: (Let me preface this by saying I don’t know why I look so morose in this picture.) So I was looking for a bowtie for a presentation I have for one of my classes and I ended up at Belk in the super ghetto mall in Tallahassee called the Tallahassee Mall. (Seriously, it’s really empty so you feel like the zombie apocalypse has happened so you and your friends are the only ones left alive. Anyways, what were we talking about?) So Belks is like a Dillard’s or a Macy’s so they have nice stuff and have killer sales (because the mall is dying.) They had a table of $40 dress shirts for $16 so I looked through them, and found one I was hoping would fit. The one I wanted was a 17 1/2 inch neck 32/33 arms. I wasn’t sure if it was going to fit and I tried it on and it fit! In high school, I worked at a Van Huesen where the biggest size was an 18 inch and since I got a discount I wanted to buy some but all of them wouldn’t even button up! I have come a freakin’ long way. Today when I tried it on I was stoked, but it took me writing this to really appreciate this NSV. This is a pretty big deal for me. If that’s not motivation to keep going I don’t know what is.

Dinner: I went to dinner at our friends the Schuberts and we had Mexican! Ole! I just made a taco salad like I do at home with chips, black beans, a little cheese, lettuce, a little meat, and a ton of salsa. It was delicious I wish I would of had seconds. Anyways, there was birthday cake for their son Brett, but they also had some killer watermelon so I just had that instead of cake. I pretty good trade off. 8 points.

Dessert: I had a WW bar. 3 points of awesomeness.

So I’m at 29 points which is good since I didn’t work out. I’m going to go something physical tomorrow so I don’t go more crazy than an outhouse rat. (Yes, people actually say that.) See ya tomorrow.

255: What a Day Edition

Hello early weekend! Hello spending the whole time on a research paper that is frustrating the tar out of me! I’ve been trying to work on this paper that’s due Tuesday about BP and their social media efforts (or lack there of) and it has been a pain trying to look through all of their tweets and statuses. It’s a combination of my computer just locking up when I’m a few months back and that they post something literally every hour now. I thought this wasn’t going to be that bad, but that’s the funny thing about research, it’s like the Bizarroworld of normal expectations.  So anyways, today has just been kind of a weird/off/I’m glad there is only an hour of it left/ kind of day. I’ll talk more about that in a bit…

Breakfast: So I was going to wake up at 6:15, go run and enjoy the morning. Well, I woke up to my alarm at 6:15 feeling great, but then I was like “well I need to sleep” so I went back to bed and I woke up feeling like complete garbage. Go figure right? So I got up, had some Chobani and granola, and went on with my day. 5 points.

Lunch: So I got home around 1 and I warmed up some Hebrew Nationals with leftover spaghetti-o’s. It was an awesomely delicious lunch. 8 points

After lunch I was a little hungry so I immediately ate some hummus and a pita while I should have just waited out a few minutes and I’m sure I would have been fine. Instead I ate it and I felt gross/too full after. That always sucks. 3 points.

Starbucks: While researching at Starbucks, I had a Skinny caramel macchiato which was as good as always. 3 points

Workout: So I had a rough day so I was ready for a good workout to calm myself down. I got to Leach and it was nightmarishly packed. I tried to do some weights but every 2 minutes it felt like people were coming up to me asking if I was done with a machine. It got annoying quick. Then I was doing some lumberjacks on a machine (pull down diagonally across your body) and one of the workers showed me a better way to do it. It was good for him to do and he was the first worker I’ve seen do that because I’m sure I’m still doing a ton of stuff wrong still. I just felt out of whack and like I had no clue what I was doing. So I went to a staple that I know I can handle. It was Stairmaster time! I did 17 minutes on level 7 (which I have never done) and it was painful but good. With 3 minutes left, my right calf started to cramp up so I slowed it down a little to stretch it out which helped but again it was just rough. I sweated like a stuffed pig which is what I needed today, a cathartic sweat. (Yes, that is all my sweat.)

Dinner: I had some leftover black beans so I cooked up some rice and had burritos again. It was fantastic and 10 points.

Dessert: I know I said I was going to cut back on dessert so I just had one today 🙂 I started working on research again and I kept having issues with my computer. Sometimes there are problems that only ice cream can solve. It wasn’t emotional eating per se, more of I need to get away from my computer or I’m going to go Office Space on it. It was still only 3 points so whatever.

Today I got to 32 points which is over but with the exercise I’m good. See ya tomorrow.

Day 245: Tuesday Time!

First let me start with GO MAVS!!!!!!

Sorry about no post on Memorial Day but I will make up for it with the pictures and a solid video on Wordless Wednesday!!!! Holla! Today was a pretty good day but a little weird with food. You’ll just have to read to see what I mean.

Breakfast: This morning I had to finish up some homework for my class (editing and re-editing and re re-editing FTW) and it came to a time crisis (not the video game) decision: eat breakfast or brush my teeth. Rest assured, I went with the later (I mean, it was time for my monthly brushing anyways) and brought a granola bar from home. 2 points

Lunch: After class, I picked up Megan and we went to Mellow Mushroom for a little lunch date. It was $5 cheese calzone day so we each got our own even though we usually split one. I was going to eat half and save the rest for later but I was starving so I ate the whole dang thing. Holy cow it was awesome. 18 points

Dinner: As you can see, there is a lack of snacking at all which I was stuffed from lunch until around 8 o’clock tonight. We bought some groceries since I’ll be a bachelor for the next few weeks 🙁 so we each found a Smart One we liked and had that for dinner. I had the Chicken Suaza with some salsa and a 100 calorie pack of Wholly Guacamole. It was a fantastic dinner. Any time you can have queso that doesn’t demolish your diet is a good thing. 8 point awesomeness.

Dessert: After an awesome dinner, why not follow it up with an awesome dessert? We bought some angel food the other day so I had a slice of that with fat free whip cream, lite chocolate syrup and this awesome raspberry syrup made in Thomasville. It was freakin’ awesome. 4 points

So after all the craziness of the day, I was still only at 32 points so only two points over. I have no clue how that worked but I’ll take it. I still haven’t SAWS it up yet this week but I’ll rectify that soon. See ya tomorrow.

Day 243: Weigh In Day Yo!

Hooray for Sunday!

So as always, I had no clue what the scale had for me this week and once again I am perplexed. I lost .8 pounds this week which is insane since I worked out more than I have ever since I started my weight loss journey. This kind of happened the week before last where I lost 1.8 and then 2.8 the next week so I’m hoping that happens next weekend. I’m shooting to at be at least 262 (or 95 pounds lost) before we head out to Texas in three weeks. So now I am 8.6 pounds away from 100 pounds. I know I have been a little obsessive with reaching 100, but I feel like after that, I can start setting some new short term goals. I’m just ready to be in the century club! All in all, .8 is still pretty good and I am in no way sad about it.

Breakfast: I had pomegranate Chobani. Yumness FTW!

Lunch: Our college ministry went down to Lake Ella park and had a picnic of sorts to feed the homeless there. We had a great turn out and fed a good amount of people, along with just having a conversation with people that we often over look in society. It was a great experience for everyone. So I just had a turkey sandwich and some chips.

Snack: We didn’t get home until around 3 and since there was a devo at church at 5:30 so I had a pita with a little hummus for a snack.

Dinner: After church, we had to go to Walmart to buy some essentials and then we were going to eat at home. Then we both realized how starving we both were so we went to Genghis Grill for massive bowls of awesomeness. My bowl was mostly steak and shrimp but there were a ton of veggies too! I love that place.

Non Scale Victory: In March, I bought a pair of Old Navy jeans for the first time this century that were 48 inches. Well, I wore them today since they are the only casual pants I have that actually fit but I had to wear two shirts tucked in so they would fit. By the end of the day I was holding them up with one hand. So I bought a cheap pair of jeans at Walmart to hold me off for a while and they were size 42’s! Basically, I have lost A FREAKIN’ FOOT off of my waist since September. A foot of gut, saddlebags, and butt. It’s insane. It’s victories like this that make all of my sacrifice and hard work worth it. Like I’ve said before, I was almost to the point of giving up (at age 23 mind you) and just “live” my life the way I wanted to. It wouldn’t have been living though. It would be a miserable life full of multiple doctor bills and gallons of flop sweat. One time I was at a big and tall shop that was going out of business and there were a pair of pants that were size 60 and I seriously thought to myself “well, I might as well buy these because I’ll fit in to them soon enough.” If you are having those feelings, DO SOMETHING ABOUT THEM! Take steps to change your life!

Okay… [deep breaths]

What I’m trying to say is if you want to change your life for the better, take the steps today so you wont regret it tomorrow.

See ya tomorrow.

Day 242: Back From a Bizzare Hiatus

Yeah…

it’s been Wednesday…

yikes…

sorry about that.

It’s been just a weird week. I don’t really know why. Sunday was such a high point in my weight loss journey and then the rest of the week went downhill in a frustrating fashion. Awe well. Overall, the week food and workout wise was actually pretty good. I worked out six times this week and each workout was around 500-700 calories so you could say I was a SAWS whore this week. Food wise was pretty good, except on Thursday we went to this place called Leola’s Crab Shack with our friends Emily and Jacob that is known to have the best crabs in the state. We had garlic and fried crabs with fried shrimp too. It was awesome but it was also sodiumlicious. Before we went I had burned like 750 calories and then on friday I burned around 650 so hopefully it evened it out a little. Anyways, let’s talk about today.

Breakfast: I had some chocolate rice cakes. I was going to make breakfast but we got up late so that worked.

Lunch: We went over to Earth Fare for some fresh awesomeness and it rocked. Earth Fare has an awesome hot and cold bar which is a little expensive but it’s a nice treat every once in a while. They had my favorite vegetarian food in the whole world: soy nuggets. They had them in a sweet chili sauce and in a pesto too! The salad today was a bed of spinach with feta and chicken. It was legit.

Snack: While Megan was helping her friend Sam pick out a wedding dress (congrats sam and justin!) I went over to Starbucks to work on some homework. I had an iced coffee with a pump of mocha and a splash of non fat milk. It was really good and perfect for a hot day. (It wasn’t as hot as Abilene, TX where it was 110 today though so I can’t complain.)

Dinner: We went to Red Elephant for dinner to celebrate our friend Tony’s birthday. I had the Oriental salad with seared tuna. The soy ginger vinaigrette is soooo good. Pretty awesome salad.

Dessert: After Red Elephant, we went to Nuberri for some frozen yogurt. I was trying to be good and just have yogurt with no toppings, instead I just got a lot of yogurt. I didn’t eat all of it though so it wasn’t too bad.

Non Scale Victory: My debit card is pretty old so sometimes it doesn’t work. Tonight, it was acting up so the guy asked to see my ID which the picture on it was taken last July. When I showed it, I thought he kind of did a double take but didn’t think much of it. Then when I got to my table, my friend Gerard was like “it looked like that guy did a double take when he looked at your ID.” That’s pretty legit if I’m pseudo not recognizable from last year. My drivers license expires in seven years so I guess I’ll have to get a new one before then so people know it’s actually me. Holla.

Workout: After dinner we had a little more than an hour until Leach closed so we went over for a last chance SAWS workout. I did another awesome cardio workout on the elliptical. The interval training program kept my heart rate up so I was burning calories like a boss! The gym closed at 9 and at 8:58 I was finishing up my cool down. The staff at the gym yelled at us from the first floor (I was on the third floor) to leave. I was like “we are coming!” Losers. Anyways, it was a pretty awesome workout.

So I’m not sure at all if I’m going to lose but I do have muscles in places where muscles were suppose to be. It’s been a building week so we will just see what happens. See ya tomorrow.

Day 237: Never Been a Fan of Mondays

It’s Monday… Awesome.

Today, I had a bad feeling that life was going to throw me a curveball after celebrating my big accomplishment. Long story short, for some stupid reason thanks to the Financial Aid office at FSU, I can’t use the gym at FSU for around 72 hours until tuition goes through. Awe well. So I need to get creative to workout for now. Today I didn’t workout really so I’m going to make up for it the rest this week to lose some more weight.

Breakfast: I just had a big bowl of Kashi because I had a feeling class was going to be rough and what do you know! It was :/ 7 points

Lunch: I just made some tuna salad with hellmans, pickles and a little spicy brown mustard. It was awesome. 6 points

Snack: Megan bought some low cal Jell-O pudding and it was pretty good! (That is my creepy pudding face from the commercial.) It is only 1 point for a cup!I also had a 100 calorie light mocha frap for 2 points.

Exercise? I went for a swim for a while but ended up just soaking up some sun by the pool (hey, I live in Florida. It’s what we do!)

Dinner: This weekend, we bought a two pack NY Strip Steak that was on sale at Publix. We split one of them on Saturday, and I cooked it up today for fajitas! We also bought some red peppers from the farmers market so I cooked them up with a vadilia onion. It turned out really well. We had enough for two burritos each so dinner was a super filling 10 points.

Dessert: This evening we went to see Pirates 4 (which was good but not great) so when we got home I had a 6 point sundae with lite chocolate syrup and this raspberry syrup that we bought this weekend that is made in Thomasville. Pretty awesome.

So today was alright, I got to 32 points so not bad. I’m ready for this week to turn around. See ya tomorrow.

Day 234: The Time I Met Edward Cullen Edition

[A moment of silence for Macho Man Randy Savage]

How’s it going? It’s Friday once again and that is fantabulous! It’s been a long week so I’m glad it’s done. Alright, shall we?

Breakfast: I wanted to go to Subway for breakfast but instead we made our own Subway at home. I used a Flatout, cooked up some scrambled eggs and bacon and then put it in the oven. After I took it out I put some spinach on mine. It was pretty awesome.

Non Scale Victory: I shopped for clothes and I love it. That wasn’t always the case. Life is good.

Lunch: I made some grilled cheese sandwiches for lunch and tomato soup. We had some friends that used to put spinach in their tomato soup so I did that today and it was awesome. Pretty simple but awesome lunch.

Snack: We went to Target earlier today and they had a sale on their bottled Starbucks Mocha Frappacino 100 calorie drinks. In an effort to safe some money, I bought a four pack for the price of one drink at Starbucks. Anyways, I blended my own today to make my own mocha frappacino! Here’s what I did: I put a handful of ice in my Ninja, put one bottle in the blender and then added a little lite chocolate syrup to sweeten the deal. I blended it all up and then put it in a glass with a dolip of fat free whip cream on top. One bottles worth made two big glasses. It was awesome and since one bottle is only 2 points, that massive glass was only 1 point! Legitastic!

Dinner: First of all, Happy Birthday to my brother-in-law Andrew, my homie Randy. Second, it was also my friend Jacob’s birthday and his awesome wife Emily had a surprise birthday party for him at Harry’s Seafood downtown. The place has a really sweet porch that faces out toward the west and towards the old part of FSU so the view was awesome. Anyways Jacob and I are in the same department so a few of my friends from class were there including Andrew, who has a uncanny resemblance to Edward Cullen (except he’s not glistening like diamonds in this picture.) So Harry’s specialty is New Orleans style cuisine which usually means creamy sauces and other unhealthily delicious stuff in it. So I went a different direction and had a seared ahi tuna salad with soy dressing. It was fantastic and, as you can see, a freakin’ huge salad. I was stuffed by the end of it. It was a pretty awesome birthday party.

Dessert: I made another awesome sundae but the picture sucked so I scrapped it.

Overall it was a pretty good day food wise. I didn’t really have time to workout so I’ll make up for it on Saturday.  See ya tomorrow.
