Breakfast: We finally went grocery shopping last night and we picked up a lot of produce and some other awesomeness, one of which being Publix Waffles!!!!!!! So I made a wafflewich (5.5 points) and when I was studying this morning, I had about 3 points worth of trail mix.
Lunch: After Megan beasted her own massive test, we went to Pitaria for some lunch. We usually get their awesome tomato soup, but they only had lentil, which is good but not the best tasting. I went with a greek salad with falafel patties. I was fantastic, but I went a little overboard with the olive oil/balsamic vinegar. I knew better but it happened and awe well. I didn’t eat all of the salad to avoid the oil soak leaves. It was an 18 point salad which was rough but I know better for next time.
Snack: After I got home from class, I had some WW pizza bagels for 5 points.
Dinner: Megan made this awesome veggie spaghetti with oven roasted veggies. I was just plain good. My bowl was 9 points.
So today I got to an atrocious 40.5 points. At lunch, I should have went with the lentil soup because it was much lower points and I’m sure a lot more fiber, but that’s how this works. I’m 141 days in to this and I’m still learning. It’s how it goes. Tomorrow morning we are going to work out so I’ll just work a little harder then. Oh yeah, tomorrow, back by popular demand, it WORDLESS WEDNESDAY! Get stoked. See ya tomorrow.
So, you might recall that last week I gained weight for the first time in my weight loss journey. I kind of felt it coming though because I was getting in this complacent funk with food tracking and frankly the blog. I had lost the passion of what drove me to lose the weight and I was resting on my accomplishments. I had worked so hard up to that point and then tried to coast which failed miserably. So this week, we worked out almost every day, watched what we ate, and just did a better job of listening to our bodies (oh yeah, and drinking a ton of water.) Anyways, between all that and rekindling me passion for this blog and how much I love it, I did alright this week. I lost 5.6 freaking pounds!!!!!!!! HOLY CRAP! I couldn’t believe at all. I flipped out. So awesome! This is the second most weight I’ve lost in a week other than the first week when I lost 10.8 pounds so that’s pretty cool stuff. So now I’m down to 293 pounds, I’ve lost a total of 64 pounds, and I’m 36 pounds away from my 100 pound goal. I have 80 days to go. Do you think I’ll make it? Me neither.
Breakfast: I just had a bowl of Kashi Berry Crunch that was just straight up awesome. Can’t get any better than that.
Lunch: So we went out with some of the young professionals from church for lunch and we decided on Cracker Barrel. I’m still not a fan of the ol’ CB because they still don’t have their nutritional information available to the general public which is just wrong, but I figured if I did something a little lighter than chicken tenders or something like that I would be okay. I went with the lemon pepper rainbow trout with pinto beans, mashed potatoes and carrots. It was really good, the fish was really cooked well and the veggies were amazing as always. I also had two cornbread muffins with no butter. A pretty legit meal.
After lunch, we went over to our friends house so Megan and some other people from her department could study while the guys played FIFA and watch the Super Bowl. There was frozen pizza so I had two slices of cheese which was good and then we all snacked on homemade spicy chex mix through out the day. (Pictured: Felix the Wonder Cat in a Walmart bag)
Overall I think I did alright considering it was Super Bowl Sunday. I don’t have the exact measurements of everything because I’m not sure how much chex mix I ate. The rest of the week I’m going to be really careful about that though to keep on the weight loss wagon. See ya tomorrow.
Arts & Crafts Time With Nathan! So Megan left for a conference this morning so it’s just been me holding down the fort. About 35 minutes after she left, I was already stir crazy and worked on this idea I have been thinking of for a long time. I’ve had this pair of Vans since I was a sophomore in high school (circa 2002) and I still haven’t had the heart to throw them away. I decided to try to convert them in to sandals. There were holes in them anyways so I still somehow didn’t make them look any worse. Anyways, this is the final product, and I look homeless when I wore them (and yes, there are no soles in them.) I didn’t wear them today after all. Anways…
Breakfast: I had another one of those freakin’ awesome Nature’s Own 1 point bagels with what was left of out Central Market Organic Peanut Butter from Texas [insert tear shedding] It was a bittersweet delicious 3.5 point breakfast.
Lunch: I just made another bagel sandwich sandwich with turkey, light mayo and mustard with some Cape Cod chips. Only a 6 point lunch!
Snack: I forgot to pack a snack for around 3:00 and boy did I feel it! After class, instead of grabbing a snack, I went to Walmart to pick up a few things so I didn’t get home until around 5 so I had 5 points worth of multigrain cheerios. They are so good!!! I was going to have dinner relatively early but I figured I should eat something so I wouldn’t scarf down dinner (especially since I was cooking for 2 people and it was just me. In the past that hasn’t ended well and involved me eating thirds and fourths.) (And no I didn’t get these, although it was soooooooooooo tempting. I love straight sodium!)
Dinner: I decided to make one of my favorite meals. Yep you guessed it! Black Bean Burritos! This was I think the second time me making them on my own and they turned out really well. I was going to make guacamole, but when I cut in to the avocados they were black (Yum!) so I scratched that idea. (This mad me really mad because I found 100 calorie packs of Wholly Guacamole and I had them in my cart all the way up until I check out and I decided not to get them. Fail.) Anywho, I had two burritos for a total of a very filling 10 point meal. I love this dinner. (Oh yeah, for the record, that is not mayo on top of the burrito. That is just a real unphotogenic dollop of Walmart Fat Free Sour Cream. Just thought I should clarify that.
So today I got to only 24.5 points but I’m not hungry or anything so I guess that’s good. I just really need to bring a snack for 3:00 to avoid that hunger monster. See ya tomorrow.
Breakfast: I just had 3 point waffles with no pb. I was just in a rush but it was pretty good.
Exercise: I worked out my arms today which was pretty rough because I have a weird variation of Aunt Bea arms. The gym was still pretty empty too which is always nice. There were a lot of ROTC guys that could deadlift me but they are pretty nice folks so I can’t complain. Anyways, a pretty good work out.
When I was working on my homework I had a 2 point banana then I decided to be daring and try some Starbucks oatmeal. It wasn’t that bad, but it’s not that big for how much it is ($2.45.) The packaging is a little deceiving. Anyways, even though it was really good oatmeal, I don’t know if I would get it again. The oatmeal with some brown sugar was only 3 points.
Lunch: While I was still working on homework, I had my sandwich and chips. Apart, they are 2 delicious entities. Together, HOLY COW IT’S THE BEST SANDWICH EVER! Chips in your sandwich is the best thing in the world. Seriously. Lunch was 7 points. Hooray!
Snack: Around 3:00, I got instantly hungry (hooray for my metabolism actually working) so I ate my 4 points worth of almonds.
Dinner: After my late class, Megan and I met up at Pitaria for some din-din. By then, I was really hungry and exhausted from a long day of using my brain (something I’m really not use to.) Tonight, they had their awesome Tomato Soup that Megan always talks about and I’ve become a believer. It was so good! We decided to get some hummus to make it a more filling dinner. Overall, dinner was 8 points. So not bad at all.
Dessert: After our campus bible study, a lot of us went to Mr. Roboto’s/Hiro’s to hang out. We haven’t been to Hiro’s since Novemberish so it was good to be back I was welcomed by my friend who works there who I told about the blog when I first started. I tried their vanilla yogurt and put a little reeses, heath, and oreo on. It was really good and 5 points.
Overall, I got to 32 points. It’s a point over, but with the exercise points I’m doing alright. See ya tomorrow.
Breakfast: We bought some Kashi waffles this week and they are good, but they are still not near as good as Publix waffles. Every other frozen I’ve tried have been really soggy (maybe I just need to turn up my toaster… hmmmmm) Anyways, like I said they are good and I had half a serving of peanut butter which was only 4.5 points.
Lunch: After church, we went to the Tallahassee Mall (the creepy near abandoned mall where most zombie movies take place) and ate at their food court. Luckily there is a Subway which is especially good. I had the Sweet Onion Chicken Teriyaki which is one of my favorites but I haven’t had it in ages. The 6″ with some chips was 10 points.
Dinner: Megan had been wanting to try this new recipe she found in a Taste of Home magazine so we gave it a shot. This beautiful concoction to your left is Tex Mex Porkchops. Basically, the sauce was salsa, green chiles, and sauteed onions. I usually don’t like salsa as a sauce like this, but it was really good! Megan thought it was a little salty but we both think it was the kind of salsa we used. The porkchops were only 4 points (if they are about 5 ounces) so dinner was only 8 points which is sad that it was less points than a sub and chips. (Eating in folks, that’s where it’s at!)
Snack: I just had a 1/4 cup of trail mix for 3 points. Hooray.
Overall today I unintentionally only got to 25.5 points which is kind of below but it’s too late to eat so I’ll just keep drinking my water. This week, I’m going to get back on a consistent work out schedule with healthy food abound. I’m really going to focus on reviving the fire I had to lose the weight and rid any shred of complacency that is left within me. What an epic battle it should be. See ya tomorrow.
Breakfast: I had the last waffle with just a little honey on it. My stomach was pretty messed up this morning so I kept it light. I also had a light bagel and a handful of almonds. Kind of a hodge-podge of a breakfast, but we really needed to go grocery shopping.
Exercise: I’m about 15 miles away from completing my #JanGTD goal so with 3 days to go I still have a chance to beat it. Megan and I walked all over tarnation. The part of Tallahassee we live in is really hilly so we got a big leg work out. We walked a total of 5.27 miles of awesomeness.
Lunch: After our big expedition, we really wanted to find a place with a good salad bar. (Jason of Jason’s Deli, IF YOU ARE READING THIS PLEASE COME HERE!!!!!!) We decided to try out the Salad/Hot food bar at Earth Fare. It was amazing! It’s $7.99 a pound but the spread was awesome. I had a big salad with a little salmon and balsamic vinaigrette, a few pieces of steak with roasted veggies, some quinoa (first time I’ve tried it. Soooo good) and some soy nuggets which were really good. I definitely want to go back soon.
Dinner: Our friend Matt (of racquetball fame) wanted to go out dinner to try out this Korean BBQ place in town. It didn’t look like much from the outside, but the place was awesome! I had the Korean Beef BBQ with rice. You could have as much sides as you wanted so I filled up on kimchee and this miso soup with tofu. It was a pretty awesome dinner.
Overall, it was a pretty good day. Between drinking a lot of water to keep from retaining water and walking 5 miles, I’m hoping that undid a little of yesterday. I’m worried because I’m really starting to crave bad foods again which hasn’t happened for a long time. Regardless of what happens tomorrow, I’m going to get back on track. This race is not over and I can’t forget that. See ya tomorrow.
Breakfast: My first attempt was pretty solid. I had my wafflewich with only half of the serving size of peanut butter. It wasn’t that bad at all, just a little less pb and less points. Definitely worth it. Only 5.5 points.
Lunch: I went up to campus to work with some people from class (if you guys are reading this, enjoy your pseudo shout out) and since I didn’t have time to get lunch between my internship, Megan made me a couple awesome sandwiches. It was only like 4 points.
Snack: During work around 3, I was getting a little hungry. Luckily I had some almonds to snack on. 28 almonds was only 4 points which works for me.
This is where it got interesting: It’s been a long week for us. We have a lot on our plates full of school and about a million other things. Also, (as you have read) this week has been a steady diet of sandwiches and chicken. So we decided to take the night off for a little date night for ourselves. I was already dressed up from work, but Megan was at home trying on a bunch of different dresses and stuff. I came home to a pile of clothes on our bed that were all too big for her now! We are both really feeling and seeing it now, and it’s awesome. As you can see, I tried on a suit jack that I bought a little small my sophomore year. This is how big it is now. Pretty legit, but I need to get them all altered now (the spoils of war I guess.) Anyways, our date nights usually are pretty low key involving some dive of a restaurant like Pizza Hut (I’m quite the romantic) so we decided to try out a nicer place downtown. We tried out this place called Andrews 228. I looked at the prices online and it was comparable to Olive Garden so we tried it out. It did not disappoint. Oh wait… I have pictures and other stuff.
Dinner: I wanted to eat something a little healthier, but on the other hand, I figured if I was going to splurge, I might as well make the most of it. I wasn’t going to stuff myself, but I just wanted to enjoy the experience. We tried that cheese plate appetizer with Buffalo Mozzarella (made from buffalo milk) a Gorgonzola cheesecake, and some slices of hard cheeses along with some meats and roasted veggies. It
should could have been our meal, but we deliciously forged on. I had clam/mussels arrbariata with andouille sausage. It was so delicious. This might have been the best meal I’ve ever had because I just enjoyed it. For once I let my dining experience just be enjoyed instead of just filling a whole. However, it’s 12:30 and I am still full. Not a good sign.
So today was a good day but the dinner was a little overindulgent. I don’t know how bad it was, but I’m going to make my Saturday the healthy day Friday could have been. See ya tomorrow.
Today is the crazy day where I’m on campus for what feels like a brazillion hours. I wasn’t sluggish, but my brain hurts and I’m ready for bed. Tonight I’m going to do this a little different. Instead of breaking down the points, I’ll just give a total at the end (but I will say this, a Venti Skinny Caramel Macchiato is only 3 points!!!!! And you can’t taste the difference I promise! So awesome!) Alright, here we go:
Breakfast: We bought some of these really light bagels so I had that with a little cream cheese. When we were camped out at the library, I had an Iced Venti Skinny Caramel Macchiato. I’m pretty sure that is what got me through the day.
Lunch: We brought up sack lunches and sack dinners with snacks. I had a sandwich with some carrots. When I was studying I had a snack of almonds too.
Snack: During my afternoon class, I had some almonds to hold me over until dinner.
Dinner: Before our bible study on campus, Megan and I met up for dinner at the union. I had my other sandwich and salad. It wasn’t enough for either of us, so we split a TropiChop, and it was delicious.
Post Dinner: After we got home, I realized I had only eaten 22.5 points and it was already 9:30. So, I decided to make what turned out to be another dinner. I cooked another Italian sausage, made an egg with a couple egg whites and what was left of the baked beans. It was a heckuva awesome post-dinner dinner.
Overall today, I got to 31 points. I don’t like eating that much that late, but it was one of those days where it felt I hadn’t actually eaten so it was okay. See ya tomorrow.
