Day 575: Monday Master’s Guy

Hello!

I forgot how awesome eight hours of sleep felt. It’s glorious.

Like I said last night, today I started to count points again and it was a great feeling. After being off any resemblance of a wagon for so long, I’m glad to have regiment again. It has been hard the first third of this year and I’m sure the fun has just begun, so since I have something of a “down time” right now, it’s going to help to have good habits established for me to lose some serious weight. Onderland here I come!!!

Breakfast: This morning, I had two servings of Honey Sunshine, this delicious cereal from Kashi that looks like Captain Crunch but without that razorblade sensation on the roof of your mouth. Anyway, for a cup and a half of cereal with milk it was only 4 points. I also had a banana about an hour after breakfast to keep me full until lunch.

Lunch: I had some leftover quinoa and black beans from last night. I usually heat up my leftovers (except for that weird period in my life when I have cold mashed potatoes with ketchup) but it makes for a great cold salad too! 6 points.

Snacks:
I had a packet of Orville’s finest 94% fat free popcorn for a snack because I just wanted to munch on something. A whole bag is only 4 points! Then I had a Kashi chocolate granola bar which was 2 points.

SAWS!!!! Today, we started Insanity… again. We did the fit test and it went pretty good! I can already tell the difference. I think having Joe the Trainer whip me in to shape this semester is going to make Insanity a lot more bearable (or at least as bearable as it can be.)

Dinner: Megan made this awesome veggie pasta dish with zucchini and squash from the farmer’s market along with some snap peas. It was magical. 9 points.

So today went pretty well! I got to 25 points and I also had some exercise points too. I wasn’t hungry really at all today, but I think that had a lot to do with drinking a bunch of water too! I have been horrible about that this semester so that is a habit I’m going to get back in to. See ya tomorrow.

P.S. Thanks for being awesome! Don’t forget you’re MY FAVORITE READER!!!  (Just you… no one else.)

Day 568: Monday Time!

So this was me the last time I graduated. Saturday, I will be looking a bit different in a cap and gown. I needed this picture this week. I needed to remember how far I’ve come. When I really look back, it makes me proud. I don’t look back to tell myself I will never look like that again, I already know that. What I do need to remember is that I can do it. This is my inspiration for the summer. My goal is to break in to the 100’s (yes, 100 with a 1) by my second blogoversary: September 18, 2o12. It’s going to take a lot of work, but I know it can be done. I mean, three years ago I had to order the biggest gown available. This year I ordered the middle sized one, the one normal people wear. I got this.

Breakfast: I had an english muffin with some peanut butter. Awesome.

Lunch: mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm… Megan made this delicious tortellini with a veggie marinara sauce for lunch. It was super filling and awesome.

Workout: This afternoon, I played racquetball with my friend Matt and Brian. It was the first time we had played all semester and it was insane. I sweated a crapton and I only collied with someone once. I love racquetball.

FroYo: This afternoon, I got a haircut on the other side of town where a new froyo place called Rainbow has opened up. Being the froyo fanatic I am, I had to give it a shot. I had the cupcake flavor mixed with vanilla along with some crushed up waffle cone, butterfinger and chocolate chips. It wasn’t too bad, but the decor is awesome and in the corner they had Hello Kitty iPad covers for sale. It can’t be that bad of a place. Plus froyo is 1/2 off on Mondays. Hard to beat.

Dinner: Tonight, we made a meal that would convert anyone in to believer in eating organic. On Saturday, we went to the Farmer’s Market on Market Square and we bought grain fed ground beef from a farm in South Georgia along with acre peas and green beans. Megan cooked the peas with some bacon from Earth Fare and a chopped onion. They were the best beans I have ever eaten. For all of my friends who can’t eat legumes, (Richard Keker) I am truly sorry. Anyway, I fired up the Weber and made burgers our of the beef and topped them with this awesome gouda that has mustard seeds in it. It didn’t taste mustardy, but it gave the burgers a great taste. Topped the burgers with some bacon too. It was a fantastic meal. It was fresh. It felt right. I know remember the joys of eating healthy.

So that’s it for tonight. Sorry this is such a late post. My computer has the Y2K. See ya tomorrow.

Day 554: Easter Weigh In Time!

Happy Easter everyone!

(Yeah, I know it’s Monday Morning for a lot of yall but it’s still Easter for those on the Best Coast.)

So I figured my weigh in was going to be bad, but it wasn’t as bad as I had thought. (I need to get out of that mindset any gain is bad.) I gained .6 pounds this week. Again, not a ton, but I’m having issues with consistency this semester like I was talking about last night. I just really need to get out of these next three weeks alive and things will get much better.

Breakfast: Before church I had two pieces of toast with peanut butter. Standard yuminess.

Lunch: After church, we went with our friend Julie and her friends Sam and Liz  to Sweet Pea, this awesome vegetarian/vegan place in Tallahassee. Today I had the tofuevos rancheros. It was delicious and fresh. I also I had their cucumber lemonade which is refreshingly awesome.

Later in the afternoon, I had a bowl of Kashi GoLean to hold me over.

Dinner: I gave up deep fried food for Lent so today I was ready for some fried food. I know, this sentence should not be on this blog. Anyway, after Megan’s awesome Old Time concert today, we went to Harry’s for an early birthday dinner for Megan. I had their wings and some fries. Not gonna lie, it was good. I only ate half of my wings and took the rest home.

A lot of Coffee: If you can’t tell, it’s a fun time in my semester so I am relying on coffee to keep me alive. (I prefer working out, but my gym time is a little limited at this point.) Anyways, I had a Skinny Caramel Machiatto at Starbucks and then we went to Atomic Coffee later and I had an iced coffee that had ice cream in it. I’m insane. I need to stop sucking.

So that’s it for today. I’m going to get better. I have to. See ya tomorrow.

(P.S. Mad Men was INSANE tonight. I love this show.)

Day 548: Monday With Things And Stuff Edition

I have no clue how my bracket turned out, but I’m sure it was bad. All I know is that Anthony Davis has a legit unibrow. Thanks for making it popular again bro. Now I can stop plucking mine every morning.

So this morning, I got on the scale and I was down to 235.7, which was way more than my 237 yesterday. It’s so weird how your weight fluctuates like that, and I think it supports my theory that your body doesn’t respond to an intense workout until the day after next. That would make sense because I was incredibly sore on Sunday from my Saturday SAWSathon with Joe the Trainer. Anyway, I don’t know what the scale will hold for me this week, but either way I feel awesome right now. Obviously I’m ready to lose more weight, but I think back to how life was at 357 compared to now and just my quality of life has improved drastically. I know I don’t say this enough, but if you are thinking about changing your life for the better, do it. I will always support you.

Alright where were we?

Breakfast: This morning, I went with the classic wafflewich with banana. I bought some new peanut butter yesterday and it seems like the first scoop of peanut butter out of a new jar is always the best. It that just me? Oh well. So between that and a cup of Starbucks Blonde, it was a good morning.

Lunch: Yesterday, I got a Lean Cuisine because they were on sale at Publix. I always like diet food that feels like your cheating, so I bought the sweet and sour chicken. It was amazing! I was really impressed with not only how filling but also how DELICIOUS it was! Well done Lean Cuisine. Well done. (Sorry for no pic. I was too busy eating to look for my iPhone.)

Snack: I had some delicious animal crackers. Yumtastic.

Dinner: (Finally a picture!) Tonight, we cooked up a frozen margherita pizza from Publix. We even added some fresh basil from our little herb garden! We both agreed that the Publix Greenwise pizzas are definitely better than the Kashi pizzas so take that for what it’s worth.

After dinner, I had some popcorn and some chips and salsa. Yumness.

So that was about it for today. Overall not too bad. I will now leave you with this parting shot of Doak Campbell at Florida State. Such a beautiful campus. See ya tomorrow.

Day 534: Weigh In Day!

First off:

GO NOLES!!!

Alright where was I? Oh yeah, the epic day I had. So I was good pretty much all week and my body was introduced to new and exciting exercises. Sometimes when that happens, your weight can do weird things. This time however, it was a good thing! I lost 3.4 pounds this week! Holla! So what does that mean you ask? Well… plenty. I am now in uncharted waters with weight again. I don’t think I have weighed below 237 yet but I am now. 236.8! (Barely, but who cares?) SO… that means I have officially lost 120 pounds! It’s pretty nuts! I can’t wait to get to 125 soon. That’s going to be epic. Also, today I looked and at this point, I am 30 pounds away from being out of the obese range according to the BMI scale! That’s pretty cool considering I was 150 pounds away from it when I started. Awesome stuff.

Breakfast: I just had a banana because I knew my friend Julie was going to bring breakfast for our class at church. I had one of her sweet rolls. It was probably around 3 points. Then during the sermon, our good friend Chris preached and mentioned my blog. He was talking about accountability and staying the course. I was honored that he mentioned. Thanks for such a great lesson Chris!

Lunch: I didn’t have much time, so Julie, Stacy, Emma and I went to Bandido’s Burritos for lunch. If you may recall, they have THE BEST chips and salsa in Tallahassee. It was epic. I had the chicken burrito with chips and salsa. I’m not sure exactly how many points it was, but with the next paragraph in mind, I was okay with points today.

SAWS! So the plan was to play racquetball, but the person I was going to play got tied up so I decided I was going to still workout. As I was walking around, I saw Joe the Trainer. He asked me what I was going to do in the gym. Since I had two rough training sessions, I was going to just do my thing on the elliptical. “Don’t do the elliptical” he told me. I thought he was telling me to not overdo it, but instead he told me to do something intense like the bike or something. It was so awesome to be pushed like that! It’s so easy to get complacent in the gym and just do what you are used to. So instead, I did 20 minutes on Stairmaster which is a record for me. My heart was pounding and I was sweating buckets, but it felt so legit! This happenstance of a meeting with Joe reminded me that I need to up my workout game. I’m not 357 anymore! I need to workout like it!

In here somewhere I had some dark chocolate almond milk and popcorn. Yum!

Dinner:Megan is finally home! So I picked her up and we went to… where else? Jason’s Deli! I had the salad bar but they didn’t have light ranch! AAAAHHHH!!!! So instead I had the low cal honey mustard. It was fantastic! It even has a little zing to it! It was a great dinner. (When isn’t it awesome at Jason’s? Except for the time when my dad was at a Jason’s in Waco and the police took down and arrested a person in the parking lot. That’s awesome in a “COPS is still a show?” kind of way.)

So that was my day. It was a pretty epic Sunday. This week is going to be bananas, so it’s going to be important to plan out my meals and at least have eating down to have some structure in my life. Usually when you have that, everything else falls in to place. See ya tomorrow.

A Quick Weigh In Post

Hello Everybody!
We are on vacation so I’m going to be quick. I’ll have a huge recap later this week. Sorry I haven’t posted in a while. Frankly, it was half out of guilt and half just being lazy. I weighed this morning and I ended up at even today. I was really good most of the week, so good in fact that when I weighed on Friday I was down four flippin pounds! Somehow between then and now I retained water and ate silly things. Even though I’m on a trip, I’m going to be really good so I can lose some weight. If anything, I learned this week that Weight Watchers still works for me, but I just need to be disciplined enough to do. It was enough motivation for me to get back at it. Alright, time to get back to doing… nothing (and loving every minute of it.) See ya tomorrow.

Day 492: Super Weigh In!

GO COWBOYS!… oh yeah.

(Well this is awkward…)

Ahem… So the Giants won and since I had absolutely no dog in that fight, I was able to enjoy the game stress free that turned out to be pretty epic. For me, the true fun was the socialmediasphere that was blowing up with tweets and post about every thing from people’s favorite commercial to the Puppy Bowl (oh yeah, and some about the game.) Super Sunday always reminds me why I love social media so much and why I believe it can be so effective. Granted with the Super Bowl you have a pretty captive audience, but with such big events its as if you are at a party with your friends from across the country. It’s something special and I’m glad Mark Zuckerburg stole the idea from those Winklevoss twins to make social media the powerful communication that it is today.

Okay, moving on. So I wasn’t really good this week, but I worked out and drank my water and it really paid off! I lost 1.2 pounds this week! I have lost 119 pounds so far! I can’t believe how close I am to 120 pounds! I’m going to have to be extra careful this week because I have a developed a “two steps forward and one step back” pattern (yes, the Paula Abdul pattern.) Since I have made such good progress the past few weeks (five pounds in two weeks to be exact!) I need to keep the ball rollin’ to avoid being stuck in that 239-241 plateau region. I’m glad my body finally decided it was time to lose weight again! Huzzah!

Breakfast: I had two pieces of toast with peanut butter and honey. It was nomtastic!

Lunch: After church, we ran to Subway and split a Sweet Onion Chicken Teriyaki (hooray $5 footlongs!) and then went to the TCBY next door and had dessert. I was bad and had a parfait which had your choice of three toppings and two scoops of yogurt. My toppings were epic, but contextually wrong: hot fudge, peanut better cup and heath bar. Not my brightest moment.

Snack: I had a piece of low fat cake that Megan had made with applesauce. I was really impressed! It was fluffier than regular cake and less fat and calories! (True story: I was in a Facebook group called “I Brake For Cake” actually I probably still am.)

Super Bowl Progressive Dinner: This year, we stayed at home because we both had homework and really we are just exhausted from school. Anyway, we found a few different recipes off of Skinny Taste to try… and we didn’t make any of them 🙂 (We will make them this week though so stay tuned!) We started off with chips and salsa during the pre-game/Puppy Bowl, then Megan made these twice baked potatoes with light sour cream, bacon bits and low fat cheese. They were basically a meal in themselves. During the game, I fired up the grill and cooked up some turkey Italian Sausages and suited them up with sauerkraut, spicy mustard and ketchup. After that, we were both in our own food comas. Then the game was over, The Voice came on, I was still trying to figure out if Cee Lo Green was a warlock or not, and then I started this post. Now you know Nathan’s complete life in real time!

So that’s about it. Pretty good day. Great weigh in and a great day of socializing on the interwebs. See ya tomorrow.

Day 487: That Time I Got an iPad Edition

Yes, it is true. My life is complete. I guess that’s all I can say.

I’m going to keep this quick because my battery icon looks like that which means I have no clue when my computer will shut off. Awesome right?

Anyway, today was obviously pretty good, but I discovered my kryptonite: rotisserie chicken.

Breakfast: I had to be up on campus a little kind of early so I went for some coffee and bagels and cream cheese. Their Vanilla Hazelnut is usually spot on but tonight was a little burnt. Awe well. Overall it was pretty good.

Lunch: I know I know, animal crackers and Diet Coke: the lunch of champions (and grad students.) I didn’t have much time between classes so I grabbed that out of the vending machine. Yummy stuff.

Dinner: I wasn’t really hungry until kind of late so we went to Publix for some food. They had a deal where you got a rotisserie chicken and two sides for pretty cheap. We kept the sides small and the portions of chicken regular, but that temptress also known as leftover chicken kept calling my name every time I would go in to the kitchen. What was even worse was that I would eat the dark meat and the skin which is the worst part! AHHHHH! It was no bueno. I need to work on that. If I could conquer rotisserie chicken, I would be able to conquer anything.

Insanity: This week is the calm before the storm: Cardio Core and Balance. After this is when Phase Two and it gets just plain sadistic. Anyway, the workout was bad, but it hurt so good. I feel nice and stretched out.

So that’s about it. Tomorrow is Wordless Wednesday! If you have a question for the video, post a comment below or on The Fotographing Fat Kid Facebook Page. See ya tomorrow.

Day 472: Monday and a Late Weigh In

I’m kind of a slacker and I was out and about with friends last night. My bad.

So yesterday, I was hoping for a big loss, but the last half of the week was full of eating out and overindulging. Either way though, I still lost .4 pounds so basically half a pound. Overall, I’m happy about my loss. I’m ready to drop in to the 230’s (which is 1.2 pound away). Hopefully with all of the Insanity this week I’ll be able to drop below.

NSV: There is a silver lining to all of this. To the left is 2011 Nathan who was barely below 300 pounds and the right pic is from last night. I can’t wait to see what I will look like in January 2013.

Breakfast: I got to sleep in this morning (which was glorious) so I had a quick breakfast. I just had an English muffin, a little pb and a banana. Yumness!

Lunch: After wishing on every shooting star and rubbing every lamps with genies religiously, they have finally opened a Jason’s Deli in Tallahassee!!! While they have awesome sandwiches and potatoes, their salad bar is the best thing on this earth. I stacked up that salad like a boss, not to mention dominating their awesome roasted red pepper hummus. I can’t wait to go back… like… tomorrow.

Dinner: When we were out and about, we went to Black Bean for a quick dinner. I just had some black beans and rice and some tostones. Pretty good stuff.

Insanity: Tonight was the second fit test for Insanity and overall it went pretty well. I improved in most of the areas so that’s a good sign. Either way, I was exhausted. After my workout I had one of those awesome one point Healthy Choice fudgsicle bars. And now I’m watching Arrested Development (going through the series for the third time. STEVE HOLT!) See ya tomorrow.
