Day 393: Saturday Recap of the Week

So I didn’t post on Thursday because the Rangers had ripped out my heart to the point of exhaustion. By then, I had realized I had wasted four and a half hours of my life  in the respect that I could have been doing plenty of homework in that time frame. (Yes, I know that sounded pretty nerdy. It is what it is.) Friday, I wasn’t able to because we were at our young pros and college annual Halloween bash. It was a blast to chill by the fire after the race. Oh yeah…

RACE RECAP! The Trick or Trot was my first evening race (which I was nervous about since I had been sedentary all day) and it was awesome! I blew my records out the water yo! The race started downhill and since it wasn’t a big race, I was able to book it the first mile and set a good pace. It then started to even out and before I knew it, mile 1 was done… in 8:40! WHABAM! Through mile 2 or so, the hills were bad but still not as bad as the ones I’m use to so I just pushed through it. The last .1 was straight uphill which really sucked but again I just worked through it (even though at that point I was losing steam fast) and I’m glad I did. I busted out a 30:38 5k time. I was secretly hoping to break 30 minutes, but I was pretty freakin’ close. I was also wondering if I was going to place in the 20-29 mens bracket, but considering the thrid place time was a little over 18 minutes and the first place time was 16:25, I didn’t have a shot :). Overall, it was a pretty awesome race! Starting on Monday, Megan and I are going to start a 12 week Nike+ 10k training program so I’m pretty stoked about that too!

Alright let’s get back to today.

Breakfast: I just had a wafflewich of awesomeness. Fantastic.

Lunch: This morning, the Farmer’s Market downtown had owls!!!! The St. Francis Wildlife Refuge brought out the owls they use for educational purposes. It was pretty awesome. Anyways, that had nothing to do with lunch, but who cares. For lunch, we just came home and I had leftover chili from the other night. Awesomeness.

Oh yeah, we found bacon flavored syrup at Wold Market. Bacon lattes anyone?

[Insert this time of the day with intermittent rice krispy treat and pistachio grazing. Ruh roh…]

Dinner: Tonight, we carved our massive pumpkins and roasted pumpkin seeds. Megan carved out a super awesome jack-o-lantern and completely overshadowed mine that looked like a seven year olds. Anyways, Megan made the Southwest quinoa recipe that we know and love for dinner. It was delicious as usual.

So today wasn’t too bad. Like I said I did graze a little bit and we will just have to see how that affects tomorrow’s weigh in. Either way, I feel pretty decent about this week so we will see how it goes. See ya tomorrow.

Day 389: Tuesday

So yeah, I messed up the day number. I’m losing my mind.

It was a pretty good day I guess, just another day in grad school. I’m ready to retire in to the real world. (Yes, you read that right.) Anyways, let’s talk about food and stuff.

Breakfast: I was out of milk and organic peanut butter (what’s a boy to do?) but we had some conventional Peter Pan Peanut Butter so I had that on my waffles. It just wasn’t the same.

Lunch: I just had some pretzels and hummus (you know, the usual) and it was good as usual.

Snack: I had a couple atomic fire balls which really aren’t bad but I had to get rid of the rest of them so I would stop eating out of stress.

Dinner: Tonight, I made some chili awesomeness for dinner and we had it with some tortilla chips. It was one of the better batches I have made.

So as you can tell, it was just another boring day. Nothing too exciting. Maybe tomorrow will be a little better BECAUSE IT’S GAME 6 AND WORDLESS WEDNESDAY!!! Get stoked. See ya tomorrow.

Day 288: Monday Edition

So last night’s concert was RIDICULOUS!!! I got down like a crazy person. It’s always awesome to see your favorite band play pretty much all of your favorite songs. Anyways, I haven’t spent a lot of time in Jacksonville, but it seems like a pretty cool place. On Wednesday I’ll post some pics of the trip and the concert.

If you follow me on Facebook, then you saw yesterday that I gained 1.4 pounds this past week. I wasn’t the best this week so I kind of expected it. I’m a little frustrated with myself because it has just been an ebb and flow of getting complacent and just wanting to eat what I want. However, I knew this was going to get to a point where this was going to get hard. Weight loss is a process and some weeks you have to dig a little deeper than other weeks.

Breakfast: the hotel we stayed at had an Einstein Brothers Bagels next door so we stopped in for a bagel and coffee before we hit the road. Einstein’s has my favorite brewed coffee of all: their vanilla hazelnut. I always burn my tongue because I want to drink it right out of the tap (aka when it is in its molten state). Anyways, I had an everything bagel with cream cheese. I forgot that they schlacked your bagel with fattened deliciousness, but it was pretty awesome. It was only 8 points which is usually how much I “spend” for breakfast so it’s all good.

Lunch: When we got home, I made a sandwich before class and work. I had some of the kettle chips that we bought for the trip. Pretty simple yet delicious.

Snack: I’ve unintentionally developed a bad habit of buying candy before my class. Don’t worry, it’s not anything really bad, just some chik-o-sticks and atomic fireballs. I had about 4 points worth of candy today. I need to get it out of my backpack so I stop eating it. I don’t have the points for excess stuff like that.

Pre-Run Snack: By the time I got home, I was pretty hungry so I had a bowl of grape nuts and granola. It was the perfect pre-run food. 8 points.

Run: I did work son. I have no clue what the deal was but to quote Forest Gump “I was run-ning” and it felt awesome. I don’t know if I just lengthened my stride or if my body knew I needed a solid run, but whatever it was it felt awesome. I ran a 5k in 32:47 with a 10:31/mile average (first mile was 10:20) which shaved off a good chunk of time considering my last 5k time was 35:39. I’m hoping with the adrenaline that goes along with a race that I can maybe get down below 30. Lofty goal? Of course, but what’s the point of not aiming high when you have nothing to lose? (He said in his best Tony Robbins impression.)

Dinner: Last week, I had grilled up some Italian sausage solely for the purpose of spaghetti this week. So tonight, I warmed them up and added it to the sauce. It turned out pretty well, but I ate too much for dinner. I’m a little frustrated, but it is what it is.

So today wasn’t too bad, but I had a big portion of seconds during dinner that just made me disappointed in myself. Awe well, tomorrow is another day. See ya tomorrow.

Day 286: Saturday Time!

I was going to blog after the Rangers game, but it’s gotten pretty ugly so I’ll just multitask.

So today, the residual stress of this week weighted me down for part of the day, but I broke out of that so I could enjoy this gorgeous Saturday in Florida. I did homework instead of going to the game, which was a good idea in hindsight because life is about to get B-A-N-A-N-A-S! Alright, food time.

Breakfast: I had two pieces of toast with the last of my Central Market Organic Peanut Butter :’-(. Good thing my parents will be here in a few weeks… (Hint Hint Mom and Pops!)

Lunch: We wanted to avoid around campus for lunch, so we ended up going to Super Perros for some Godzilla burrito. It was awesome as always, but I think I’ve gained every time I’ve eaten at Super Perros the Saturday before my weigh in. I don’t know what that’s all about, but we will just see what happens.

Dinner: After studying, we got some yogurt at TCBY, went over to a pumpkin patch, bought some little pumpkins and then went over to Earth Fare for some stuff for dinner. We bought some grass fed ground beef and some Italian sausages that they make every morning. We wanted dinner to be an epic cookout to celebrate getting through the week. Instead of just using charcoal tonight (Hank Hill is right, with charcoal you really taste heat not the meat) I bought some mesquite chips (more like chunks) that you light up with your charcoal. It made the fire a lot hotter and it gave everything a much better flavor. I cooked up two burgers with some white cheddar on top with some caramelized onions on ciabatta. We also had some leftover french onion soup (random deliciousness) and also some grilled corn. I cooked up the sausages for spaghetti later in the week, but I tried one of them tonight and holy crap it was soooooo spicy! I can’t wait to eat it some time this week!

So today was okay I guess. It’s been a nutzo week with a lot of stress eating, but I think today might have been the worst. I don’t know. Either way, life will be a bit better next week and I really need to run to get ready for the 5k on Friday. We will just see how it goes. Oh yeah, I’m not going to be able to blog tomorrow night (TV ON THE RADIO IN CONCERT!!! I’M SO STOKED!!!) so I will post tomorrow’s results on my Facebook Page. So if you want to hear all about the weigh in, like my page yo! See ya tomorrow.

Day 385A: Where The Crap Have You Been? Edition

[Insert so witty comment about blogging here]

So this kidney stone of a week has finally passed. It was painful when it was building up to this point and boy did it hurt when I got it our of my system. What’s on the agenda now? MORE HOMEWORK! The fun never stops here in Tallahassee (even when you’ve stopped and you’ve had enough.) [Insert Micheal Jackson dance move here.] Anyways, my eating this week has been pretty rough. I’ve tried to keep it in check, but it’s been hard with being so busy which has lead to eating out and grazing like a boss. However, soda has not touched these lips (no matter how tempting it’s been.) I have discovered the awesomeness known as flavored seltzer water which has no calories and no sodium so I’ve been throwing that back a lot this week. I’m finally going to get some exercise in this weekend with racquetball today and a morning run tomorrow. I’m running a 5k next Friday evening so I really need to get in to training mode to record a good time. I also still need to figure out my costume for too. Any suggestions? I really like the idea of just wearing a Flash shirt. It will be funny and ironic all in one. Hmmmm…

Anyways, in lieu of a Wordless Wednesday and such, here are a few pics from this week. Please note the food truck pics. Last night, we went out with some my friends from my department to this lot around Lake Ella where food trucks camp out on Thursday nights. Hipsters aside, it was pretty awesome. From a pulled pork taco with chipotle mac n’ cheese on top and a grilled pb and j, it was a good night. So ladies and gents, I give… PICTURES OF THINGS AND STUFF!

Day 380: Monday

So no, it’s not my birthday, but today I did realize that I was going to be 25 in January. It terrified the crap out of me. Am I going to have a quarter life crisis like John Mayer? It just kind of hit me like a ton of bricks. It was just a weird realization to have. Even though it was a sad realization, it was not a bleak realization like it was two years ago. In my old life, the word “if” was a caveat. I would think about 40 years down the road and think “if I’m still able to walk.” “If I’m even still alive.” Depressing thoughts like that about if I can make it to 62. My grandma is 94 so I have the genetic make up to live that old, so why I wouldn’t make it that far in life it would be my own undoing, me abusing my body with food and lack of exercise.

The difference between then and now is that I love myself now enough to not to die for some disease that would be cured by diet and exercise. I know a lot of people say it, but I really was watching my life go by. I let it go by by not passing up on the junk food and other crap I was putting in my body. If you feel like I did back then, really evaluate where your life is going and do something about it. You got this!

Breakfast: I just had some grape nuts and granola. Deliciousness.

Lunch: I really need to bring my own lunch again. Today I bought a pizza lunchable from the Circle K across campus. It was not as good as I remember, but it was still okay I guess. Like I said, I need to bring my own lunch again.

Snacks: When I got home, I had some sunflower seeds and a Fiber One bar that was flippin’ awesome. I think the key to my success last week was not grazing through out the week and I need to work on that again this week.

Dinner: Last week, we bought some sirloin at The Fresh Market so we finally cooked those babies up. They turned out really well! I cooked up two pounds so Megan split a pound and then I cooked the other one for fajitas tomorrow. I’m so stoked.

So like I said, I really need to work on my grazing keep it in check because at this point I don’t have enough points to eat that much. We will just see how it all goes. See ya tomorrow.

Day 379: 57th Weigh In Yo!

What up G!

So I didn’t know how this week was going to go. I took two steps forward and one step back the past week. I was also in this funk that I couldn’t kick which affected my attitude and eating habits. But then my friend Alex told me to snap out of it. Sometimes that’s all you need to get out of a funk. Anyways, so whatever I did this week, it worked. I dropped 4.2 pounds this week! KABOOM SON! So that means I’ve lost 112.2 pounds and  now I’m down to 244.8!!! I can’t freakin’ believe it! I’m really stoked to bust out of the 240’s then in to the 230’s and then the 220’s then the 210’s the Onderland son!

Breakfast: I just had a bowl of grape nuts and granola. Yumness. After church I had a Fiber One bar. It did not make me sad, it was delicious.

Lunch: After church, we couldn’t really figure out what to do for lunch. We ended up deciding to go to MoMo’s for a slice of pizza the size of a toddler. I had the Queso-MoMo slice which had cheddar chicken, jalapenos, red onions and slices of tomatoes. It was awesome.

Dinner: I was in a rush for dinner, so I made some spaghetti with some sauce (no meat. Again, in a rush.) I didn’t take a picture, but you know what spaghetti looks like.

Dessert: So Andrea, Jacob, Alex and I had a study session at Starbucks so I had a decaf iced skinny caramel machiatto. They these free samples of peanut butter cup cupcakes so I tried one.

Snack:  We are now watching Hocus Pocus so we had some stovetop popcorn. This movie is ridiculous, but it’s Halloween awesomeness at it’s best.

I’m kind of bad about this, but it happens. I have a good loss and then I eat things I shouldn’t. I mean the pizza was good, but was probably still high in points. Also, this summer, I was offered a free sample of that same cupcake, but I didn’t eat it because it was 200 calories. I should have been better, I need to be that good still about tweaking those small changes to get better. Definitely going to work on that this week. See ya tomorrow.

Day 378: Saturday!

(I really need to be better about this whole blogging thing…)

So today was pretty good. It might have been the first time ever that I have to do homework on a Saturday. This semester is going to kill me. Anyways, I’m hoping my Rangers will be able to pull out the W tonight, but I guess we’ll see how it goes. (THEN THEY BOOMSTICKED A 9 RUN INNING!) Good times.

Breakfast: I had a mix of grape nuts and Back to Nature granola which was BOGO at Publix. It was a super awesome combo 0f deliciousness.

Lunch: Megan was going to get her hair did and dyed at the mall so we went to Jimmy John’s for some subtasticess. I had the Beach Club with half the mayo. It was yummy as always.

Snack: After Megan got her hair awesomefied, we went to Target so I could buy some new clothes. At this point, I’m done to about three shirts that actually fit. The rest are pretty baggy. Anyways, we got some Starbucks in Target. I got my classic Venti Iced Caramel Machiatto. It’s been a long time since I had had any Starbucks so it was delicious.

Dinner: We decided to grab a light dinner out so we went to Red Elephant. Although they’re known for their pizzas, they have this awesome oriental salad with seared tuna. This time, we also tried their spinach artichoke chip which was awesome! A pretty awesome dinner.

So today wasn’t too bad with food. I’ve been drinking my water this week and for the most part I’ve been staying within my points. I think I gained last week because of my high stress last week but we’ll see if my mellowing this week will help out. Here’s hoping for an awesome loss. See ya tomorrow.

Day 376: Tuesday!

Nothing’s better than when your life just decides to get better. The past few days I have been in a super funk; the combination of school craziness and eating issues have been really wearing on me. Today though, the cloud was lifted and everything seemed to just look up! Hip hip hooray! (I immediately regret writing hip hip hooray.) Anyways, today food was much better which made it even better. Food time.

Breakfast: For breakfast I had a wafflewich without the banana. Nothing better than hot peanut butter between two eggos with a little honey. Pretty delicious stuff. 4.5 points

Lunch: I didn’t have a lunch to bring today, so I went one of the convenience stores on campus to find some grub. I found the Sabra pretzel and hummus pack that I love so I had that and a SmartWater (which worked out because I needed water and I needed a vehicle for said water.) Anyways, it kept me pretty full until dinner so that was a good choice for lunch. 8 points.

Dinner: The Fresh Market had a killer deal on boneless pork chops ($2.99 a pound! Oh snap!) so I tried my hand at Bar-B-Queing pork. I was kind of nervous because I didn’t want us to die from uncooked pork, but it turned out really well! I found this awesome rub that was low calorie and required no salt. A little oregano, rosemary, half a teaspoon of olive oil and a tsp of honey. Megan made her signature lite garlic mashed potatoes which complimented them awesomely. For dessert, I had a slice of pumpkin pie from TFM. It was good, but it did not have a “home made” taste and the second ingredient was high fructose corn syrup. It was about a 18 point meal.

So today I got to 30.5 points. Not bad at all. I was just a little over but nothing catastrophic. Wordless Wednesday tomorrow. Get stoked! See ya tomorrow.

P.S. If you have a question about me or what weight loss system I use (at this point, nothing is off the table) ask in the comment box below or check out my Facebook Page! Who know? Your question might make it on tomorrow’s blog!
