Molly and I just finished watching your fantastic short film (with her barking and hurumphing at the appropriate places) once again Nathan, I am so very proud of you! Perhaps “that store” (Dillards) will see this and send you a massive repreational gift to be used wherever the heck you want in their crummy store.
I watched, I watched – where’s my gold star? Ha!
Well put. I can top your Dilliard’s story… in college, I was in a mall, and I went into a store (I can barely remember which, after years of repression, but either Abercrombie or maybe Banana Republic or maybe Structure, which I don’t think even exists anymore), and the sales person looked me up and down and said, ‘Are you shopping for a gift for someone else?’ They might as well have kicked me in the nuts. I said no, turned around and walked out, and had a good cry in the car.
I used to prefer dedicated big & tall stores to department stores with big & tall sections, and didn’t have a sizing troubles you had – probably because, at 6’4″, I was both big AND tall. But both weren’t as easy and un-embarrassing as my favorite method of shopping: CATALOG. Ever seen “Best in Show,” and the couple jokes about how they used to flip through J.Crew catalogs to see if they could find what’s new? That was me.
Anyway. CONGRATS on all you’ve accomplished, Nathan – it’s amazing. Keep it up!
PS. I too posted a video on my blog today – check it out!

First off, I feel your pain with that story. That super sucks. I had stuff like that happen to me not necessarily verbally but definitely non-verbally. It was embarrassing.
Second, I freakin’ love MG’s Crosswords! That is so awesome that you were on it and man, you have come such a long way! (Still my hero.)
Third, I’m sure if I was taller, B&T places would have been a little more bearable, but in high school I wanted to wear band shirts but all the XXL’s were made for, according to a Hot Topic associate “the more emo XXL people that want tight fitting shirts” to which I replied “I’m an emo fat kid and let me tell you the last thing we want is to wear is a tight shirt.” Fun times indeed.
Forth, like you, it feels awesome to be liberated from being confined to that section of the store and thanks for being awesome good sir.
