Day 1,161 All the Desserts Edition

So today…well…I ate a lot.
I have a thing for sweets. My sweet tooth takes up the majority of my mouth (and has severe cavities.) Today was his Christmas…but we’ll get to that later.

Stache Day 21Movember update! Some of you have been asking about Movember and how my mustache is growing. Well, here you go! It’s not great, but it can sure raise some money! As you can see, I have kind of a Reverse Hitler growing where that space under my noes doesn’t grow well. Hi Ho. Anyway, it’s been fun to grow it. Ready to grow a beard in December…or at least try to anyway.

About yesterday’s photos: So you might be wondering about those workout photos from Wordless Wednesday. Well, those were from my Start 2 Fitness exercise class! Yesterday, we have a few competitions like who could plank the longest, who could do the most pushups, that kind of stuff. All I wanted was to get first place in a competition AND I DID! Truth be told, it was a game that was totally in my wheelhouse: shuttle-run trivia. (Fun fact: kind of a trivia nerd who plays on a fantastic team called STEVE HOLT! and yes we yell that every time someone says our name.) Anyway, you had to guess a certain celebrity in the shortest time. The catch? You had to run 100+ feet to someone to get a clue and then come back to give your answer. My clues were: female, singer, debuted in 1999. Boom. Britney Spears. I got mine in three tries in 44 seconds. First place in that competition! Holla! Celebrate the small victories! Shout out to Ernst, Brendan and Angela at FSU Campus Rec for an awesome semester of getting fit!

Board Room?Breakfast: What’s the opposite of getting fit? Oh yeah, eating a sandwich with hashbrowns on it. Because that happened at breakfast. Not a good indicator of things to come. On a different note, people were having a business meeting inside of Atomic Coffee this morning with their own giant pad of paper. And before you ask, no, they don’t have a conference room. It was painful to watch and listen to (especially because they were talking about social media. I’m not sure they knew what Facebook was…). Anyway, the sandwich was good, but not the healthiest option. But somehow still healthier than most of my other meals today.

All the Desserts Candy ApplesI Ate Dessert For Lunch…Because I’m An Adult!: So today at work, we had a bake sale that benefited the United Way of the Big Bend. You were encouraged to try everything and then vote on your favorites. So I took that to heart. I didn’t even bother trying to add it all up. Don’t worry, I didn’t eat all of those apples. They just looked awesome. Funny story: the guy who made those is on WW too so I jokingly asked him how many points those were and then he laughed in my face and said “it’s for charity! When you eat something for charity, the points don’t count!!!” So I’m going with that delusive ignorance and calling a mulligan on this meal. Don’t worry, I paid for it later. I felt terrible the rest of the day. In other news, I love my job.

hot dogsSecond Lunch: After all the sugar, I needed something else in my body or I was going to die of my newly discovered diabetes. So what did this smart guy eat? Two delicious hot dogs from the iconic hot dog stand on campus: Mom and Pop’s. Ironically, Mom and Pop’s is the only food stand on FSU’s campus that isn’t owned by Aramark. Making it one of the few Mom and Pop shops that stood up to a big conglomerate and won. Anyway, yeah…they were good. But it’s ok! I had a Diet Coke that canceled out any calories I ate at Second Lunch! Hooray denial!

Chili!Dinner: To balance and completely cancel out every other calorie I ate in the day, I made chili for dinner. It was delicious, but I still kind of feel sick from eating all that sugar. Ready to run A LOT tomorrow evening. See ya tomorrow.

Day 1,159 Big Magnet Edition

What do you do when your significant other is busy writing papers?

You write about the things you’ve eaten while listening to a mix of Ben Harper and Christmas songs on Pandora.

Let’s get started, shall we?

Stachetastic Run SponsorHow about a quick Movember update? So I officially have 25 Stachetastic Run Sponsors!!! THAT’S FREAKIN’ AWESOME! So at this point, I’m raising $2.50 for every mile I run in Movember! I’m not mathmagician, but that means I’ve raised $60 so far on this one component of my fundraising! It feels so awesome to contribute to the research of men’s health research! STACHETASTIC! (Psst…if you want in on this awesomeness, comment below or on my FB page!)

Alright, back to food and stuff. For breakfast, I just had a Jimmy Dean Breakfast sandwich. I’m not gonna lie, a part of the reason why I stopped writing food posts was because I was a little embarassed about how I eat pretty much the same thing every day for breakfast and lunch. As a blogger, it didn’t seem like good writing. But this blog isn’t going to always be foodporntastic like this photo from Sunday night (this photo is NSFES…Not Safe For Empty Stomachs). My weekly structure has been my bread and butter in the past. I need that so I don’t just eat out all the time. So bear with my as I try to make Jimmy Dean and his breakfast sandwiches sound interesting. (However, Jimmy Dean did sing an interesting ballad called “Big John” that I has always loved. Enjoy.) 5 points.
MagnetThat time I ate with magnets: So I am a part of the Communicators’ Network at FSU, which is basically a group for every PR/marketing professional within the university. This week, we went on a field trip to the National High Magnetic Field Lab which is a part of the campus at Florida State. They gave us an awesome tour of where some of the world’s strongest magnets are created and used. In lieu of a food photo is a photo of the world’s strongest magnet: the 45 Tesla Hybrid Magnet System! Scientist and other nerds come from around the world to test materials by putting them inside a space of the magnet. What do they test? I’m not really sure, but our tour guide mentioned something about testing the material graphene inside of one of the magnets which is this super awesome material that will change technology in the future (you heard it here first people! From a food blog…from a kid who did pretty horribly in his science classes…) Anyway, the magnet is about three and a half stories high, but only has about an inch and a half of testing space. So that gives you an idea of how intense the magnet’s strength is. The Mag Lab in Tallahassee also has one of the coldest spots on earth…which is created by superconductors and liquid nitrogen and helium. As our awesome tour guide was explaining all of this, the only thing I could think of was Jesse Pinkman… So I said all of that to say this: Florida State University has more than just the best football team in the country, it is a world-class research institution. Basically, we are just awesome. Not much more needs to be said about that. Oh yeah, they also provided a fajita bar for lunch so I ate about 15 points at lunch.

Sorry for nerding out on you there. If you want to read more about my lifelong-love for the best university in the nation, click here and see how it all began.

Coffee

#coffeeselfie

COFFEE! It was a frigid 68 degrees today (what can I say? Life is like a hurricane here in Duckburg) so I had myself a skinny caramel macchiato while working outside. (Landis Green is an awesome place to brainstorm.) A venti skinny is only 5 points!

Dinner: After work, we decided to grab some dinner since Megan was going to be locked up working all night. We stopped at Po’Boys and I had gator po’ boy (yes…a po’ boy sandwich with alligator) and fries. It was about 27 points.

Snack: Megan and I found this nifty trick that you can make popcorn in the microwave in a paper bag. We had an air popper which worked for a while, but then was possessed by Ann Coulter and now shoots the kernels everywhere like missiles. This is a much safer (and delicious) way of eating popcorn! Check it out how here! 3 points

So today was random, but good! I got to 55 points which is over, but not by much. I have plenty of flex points and activity points. Hooray for tracking! See ya tomorrow.

Dead ActiveLink, Bruised Toes & Other Adventures in Weight Loss

It’s funny when you leave open your blog post in your browser and how what you are planning on writing will be completely different in a matter of hours.

My WISo it’s been a pretty crazy week. In fact it’s been a pretty crazy start to the month. I am in a pretty rotten place when it comes to weight loss. My weight has been fluctuating like crazy, but I physically look smaller. My Start to Fitness cross training class twice a week is getting me ripped. I especially see and feel it in my back, my arms and around my stomach. Between that and my running, I have been getting fit in the gym (and track), but haven’t been losing weight in the kitchen.

As you can see from the graph, I’m struggling. It’s hard not to go a little overboard when your favorite team (i.e. my FSU Seminoles) are going gangbusters for the first time since…well…since we were worrying about Y2K. It shouldn’t be an excuse, but it’s been the reality of the situation. My eating is out of whack in the week and then it’s not much better on the weekends. At this point, I feel like I need to have just one good week of eating right, exercising and drinking all the water, I could kickstart my weight loss into gear!

RIP AL
So what’s standing in my way?
Well, like I said, I have had a couple of crummy weeks and days.
First, my ActiveLink fell off my pants. I run with it on my waistband all the time, but some how it got knocked off my jeans when I was walking to work. Crazy right? Where did it fall? It fell on to a busy intersection without me even realizing it. When I was in a meeting, I realized that it was gone. I thought I had left it at home, so I went and looked for it in an attempt to assuage my fears. It wasn’t at home. After lunch, I came back up to work while retracing my steps. Then, I saw it…in pieces…on a busy intersection of campus. It was pretty sad, and I’m pretty sure I looked crazy picking up the pieces while cars were driving by. Anyway, in a way it was a little comical. It’s just a part of life. It could be worse…someone could have stolen my shoes (oh that’s right, that’s happened before…). I know that not having an ActiveLink doesn’t physically stop my from being active, but it’s awesome to have that gauge to know how much more active I need to be during the week. It was just kind of a bummer.

my foot
Well that sucks, what else is going on, FFK?
Do you have a piece of furniture in your house that loves to destroy your toes? So do we. We have this black chair that has a leg that has bruised many a toes. Yesterday, I slammed my left foot in to the leg of the chair and as you can see, my toe swelled up almost immediately, followed by turning a black/purple/blue/redish color all around. Followed by pain while walking. It wasn’t fun. So today I went to the doctor and got some x-rays done. I usually wouldn’t go for something like this, but I am training for the half AND I have Stachetastic Run Sponsors depending on me! I found out that my toe wasn’t broken, just has a bad contusion. She suggested taping those piggies together (according to the doctor’s sheet, “taping to the buddy toes”) and it should heal in the next two to three weeks. Not awesome.

So what does that mean for your running?
Well…I’m not sure. My toe has felt better since it’s been taped. I’m already a little more mobile and I think I would feel a lot better if I had taken some pain meds today. So I’m going to rest it tomorrow and just listen to my body. That hasn’t failed me yet. What sucks is that I haven’t ran since Thursday because I was resting my body for some long runs this week. For those of you that don’t know, I am raising money in a special way this month. Last week, I challenged my Facebook friends to donate a dime (yes, ten cents) to Movember for every mile I ran this month. So far I have 14 Stachetastic Run Sponsors and have raised $18.20 by running 13 miles. My goal was to run at least 50 miles, but that might be an issue considering my toes. That’s why I need more sponsors, so that every mile counts. If I could get six more sponsors, I will been raising $2 for every mile. If you are willing to help change the face men’s health, this is a motastic way. No if you will excuse me, I’m going to burn a chair to the ground.

Day 948: Run Recap and Such!

Before I start, I have to get something off my chest that I have been struggling with. While I used to definitely have binging qualities when I was severely overweight, a lot of those issues have been surprised. I guess I put all that chewing energy in to running or something…Anyway, while the super binging isn’t so much an issue, I am a leftover eater. After we are done with dinner and it’s left on the stove or whatever, I will sleuth my way in to the kitchen and just go to town on what is left. Usually it’s chili or pasta. When I do it, it’s really hard for me to stop. What’s worst is that those bites taste better than my actual dinner. (Maybe that means I’m eating dinner too fast?) It has always been an issue for me, except I don’t have my sister here to tattle on me when I do it now lol (I remember that specifically happening when we were eating at another family’s house when I was in middle school. You know I love you, Brittany :)) I really feel like that’s my biggest struggle to overcome. It doesn’t happen as much now as it used to. I think it means that I need to eat more filling foods through out the day instead of just carbs and things like that. If you have any suggestions, I would gladly listen to them.

Phew, glad to get that off my chest.

SO LET’S TALK RUNNING!!!
Pre-Saloon
This was the weekend of running all the things. First stop: The Palace Saloon 5k, one of the oldest races in Tallahassee. It starts at a park and ends at, you guessed it, a bar called The Palace. The race boasts itself as the fastest and flattest 5k in Tallahassee. They were half right. The race was flat for the first 2 miles or so, then I notice people running up in to the clouds like it was the Transfiguration or something. Instead, people were just running up a massive hill. When I say that, it was a massive hill in the context of the race. It actually wasn’t that big. Anyway, what goes up, must come down. The last mile or so was pretty much straight downhill which was epic. I looked down at my Nike+ when I was crossing the finish line and I was rocking a 7:05/mile pace which was crazy for me. So the downhill awesomeness helped my time. One thing that also helped (I think) was that I took Energybits for the first time before a race. You can click on the link to learn more, but basically they are all-natural protein tablets made from algae that give you a nice little boost of energy when you’re running. (Don’t worry, they’re not some HGH or anything. A lot of runners swear by them…although Barry Bonds, Mark McGuire, and Roger Clemens all endorse them…hmmm…. :)). Placebo or not, it definitely helped me get up that hill when I thought I had nothing left in the ol’ tank. Anyway, I set a 5k PR of 26:04 which is SO AWESOME! I’m really wanting to run a sub 25:00 5k before the end of the summer. Time to start training!

Run 5.2 For Boston
Pre-5Mid RunRunners

I know you’ve heard me talk about it all week, but on Sunday, we finished the race for those who couldn’t. You see, most of the Boston Marathon runners were stopped at Mile 21, not getting to finish what was most likely was an ultimate goal for them. So some people in Tallahassee started to plan a 5.2 mile run to finish the race. What started out to be 50-60 runners quickly turned in to a run of more that 1,100 people! There was not a race fee, but donations were accepted and stores from across Tallahassee donated gift certificates and such to be raffled off (I won $50 for a running store in Tallahassee! So stoked to get some new shoes!) Overall, the run raised $13,000 that is going directly to the Boston One Fund and the Boston Red Cross. People truly are good. We might fight over things like religion, politics, or even the Great Pumpkin, but when we see others in desperate need, we are there to help. It’s pretty amazing.
The actually running part was pretty awesome as well. I was making killer time (but the run wasn’t officially timed) and then around Mile 2.5ish, I thought “you know, it’s not too often you can stop in the middle of a race this size and just cheer on people…” so that’s what I did. I got to the side and gave high fives, made silly running jokes and spurred my fellow runners on. One guy thought I was drunk, but that’s okay :). Anyway, I ran some more and then I stopped again right before the last big hill (the race was in Southwood so I knew the route like the back of my hand) and I encouraged people up the hill. I hope I gave them that final push that they needed. I’ve never volunteered at a race before, but now I really want to. The biggest advantage is that you can tell the same silly joke every time and no one will hear it twice :). Anyway, I ended up running it in 49:03, but that’s with long periods of me pausing my Nike+. It was an honor to cheer everyone on like that. For a lot of people, it looked like it could have been their first race. I hope this was a catalyst for them to run in the future.

All in all, the two races this weekend provided some much needed closure to what was an incredibly stressful week. I know the road to recovery for Boston is far from over, but see all the amazing philanthropy for both those in the Northeast and those in my old backyard in West, Texas, you can’t help but have some of your faith restored in humanity. Like I said on Monday, good was going to come out of that tragedy and so much already has. What a great way to end a week and begin a new one. See ya tomorrow.

Day 921: Weigh In Time!

Why hello everyone!!!!

How do you like the type in the center? Personally, I really like it.

So I have been working out like crazy and I have been tracking my points down to the calorie. It is finally paying off! I lost 1.8 points! I’m finally back in to the 220’s (I mean, 229.8…but still) and I’m making great progress. I am only 18.6 pounds away from reaching my 30 in 90 goal!!!! OH SNAP!

Here’s how the day went down…
Lunch OopsToday had the potential of going horribly wrong, and I think in the past I would have let it become a caloric nightmare. Instead I made it an awesome win! You see, as I was walking out the door this morning, I left all of my prepared food on the kitchen table. I didn’t realize it until I went to grab them out of the back seat of my car. Fail. Sooooooooo I knew that I had to stay focused with my food and not detract too much. I started the day off with a 7 point bagel and reduced fat cream cheese and then I had a snackable size of Froot Loops (I had totally forgotten that it was spelled that way! Weird huh?) Anyway, so that was 3 points.

Screen shot 2013-03-26 at 10.33.31 PM

Lunch: I ended up getting my classic Turkey Tom with avocado spread instead of mayo (it’s the difference of 20-some grams of fat!). Delicious 7 points.

Running Time!: Even though it was flippin cold and the whipping wind, I went for a run out in beautiful Southwood! I wanted to test my 5k time since it had been a while. My time was 29:18 which is awesome! It means I haven’t lost any pace time since the half. One thing I did notice was that my legs are already in sooo much better shape thanks to my leg workouts. I had a lot more endurance, especially when running up massive hills. Squats have made the difference.

EARTH FARE TIME!!!!

DINNEREarth Fare SwagAfter our run, we went to Earth Fare to break in my super awesome discount card! We took advantage of their delicious salad bar. As you can see, I made my plate 50% salad instead of how it usually is. I got a piece of really tender chicken and then a side of sweet potatoes. Their hot/cold bar is such a perfect post-run meal! YERM!
You can also see we got our share of deliciousness! Mostly some of our great staples: peanut butter, eggs, Tillamook cheddar, apples, coffee, etc. but I also got a few pears! They’re so good this time of the year (actually, I have no clue when pears are ripe…) We also got two bottles of kombucha that we drank on the way home. Overall, it was a pretty awesome haul! Can’t for the many other awesome trips to come!

So today I got to about 25 points (give or take). Even if my estimate is a little off, I still have exercise points. Awesomeness!

See ya tomorrow.

Day 920: Monday Awesomeness

Don’t Blink.

(Doctor Who is dominating my life…)

Today has been pretty crazy! Had so much going on that my head is going to explode! Frankly, I’m not really sure where to begin! (I guess the beginning is a good place to start…)

Here are the highlights:

Breakfast: Peanut butter and banana on toasted flatbread. 3.5 points

Cheerios with a side of Duckface

Cheerios with a side of Duckface

Snack: A cup of dry Cheerios 2 points

LunchLunch: Last night, Megan made this AMAZING sausage and peppers combo so I had some of the leftovers for lunch! I toasted up a flatbread and put hummus on one side. It made for an awesome little pita thingy (words…not good with them.) 6 points

Snack: 5 point White Chocolate Macadamia Nut Clif Bar. Perfect for a pre-workout snack! I also had a cup of coffee because I do that before I workout because I’m weird like that.

I sweat. Sweating is cool.

I sweat. Sweating is cool.

SAWS!!!: We had a crazy time trying to find a parking spot, to the point that we were just going to go home and do something else. Then when we got to the gym IT’S WAS FLIPPIN’ PACKED!!! All the cardio machines were packed, except for a treadmill in a corner. At this point, I was pretty frustrated. Nothing was going right and I just wanted to go home. Then, I put in my earphones, blasted some TV On The Radio, and went to town. After a few miles, the gym started to clear up and a stair master (which is what I wanted to do) opened up. I climbed conquered 100 flights. This evening, Megan reminded me of how big that really was. You see, one time when I was incredibly obese, I got locked in the stairwell of my office on the 21st floor. I had no choice but to walk all the way back down. When I was obese, I always said that I was the healthiest fat guy in the world. I thought I was a lot healthier than I actually was. What I was was in complete denial of my situation. So anyway, I walked down (not even up) 20 floors of stairs. I remember my calves being sore for a week and my knees just aching. Today? 100 floors up in 13:26. Not a problem. After a few miles no less! It’s pretty awesome to realize how far you’ve really come.

hummus and snap peasSnack: After my workout, I had some snap peas with 2 delicious tablespoons of hummus!

Brussels Sprouts on a Baked PotatoDelicious Dinner: Megan has figured out how to make the perfect baked potato…so we capitalized on that awesomeness. She also sauteed some brussels sprouts, slathered on some sour cream and added some cheese. What do you get? THE BEST BAKED POTATO EVER!!!! 8 points!

I also had some grapes. Yerm.

Swagtastic.

Swagtastic.

Earthlete Swag!: This evening I got something awesome in the mail! MY EARTH FARE DISCOUNT CARD!!! This is one of the perks I get for being an Earthlete: 15% discount card. Pretty awesome huh? This is HUGE for us because we really work hard to buy organic produce and meat. This is going to make it some much easier! Another excuse buster! Can’t wait to break it in! Any suggestions?

So that’s about it for today! Tomorrow is weigh in day! I can’t wait to see what Captian Scale-o (my scale’s new name) has to say tomorrow. No matter what, the weight loss renaissance has begun!

See ya tomorrow.

Day 916: Thursday Thank You’s

EarthleteSo it’s true! I am officially an Earth Fare Athlete Ambassador aka an Earthlete! If you couldn’t tell by my video last night, I am pretty freakin’ stoked about it! I actually emailed my contact, Megan, (no, not my Megan. She didn’t just make this whole thing up. That would be a little weird…) back about it because I thought she had sent it to me on accident lol. I know, I’m a little crazy, but I was just pretty shocked. Anyway, I’ll be sure to tell you all about it once I know more. In the mean time, thank you so much for all of your support and awesomeness in the past 24 hours! I have the best readers and the best community of supporters of all time! I heart all of you!

Alright, so I’m going to keep this brief. Between a headache, basketball, and a since we just started a new season of Doctor Who with a new Doctor (the 11th Doctor) I’ll summarize the day! I got to 38 points today which isn’t bad at all! I haven’t used weekly points all week so now I have 28 extra points left! Not too shabby! I also took a rest day from working out which was much needed. I needed some rest. My legs were hurting and I didn’t want to injure anything (since I might/most likely run a 10k in a few weeks.) So that’s about it! Pretty awesome week. The whole “consistency” mantra is working really well. See ya tomorrow.

"I wear a bow tie now. Bow ties are cool."

“I wear a bow tie now. Bow ties are cool.”

Day 909: 30in90 Explained

Sorry if I cut off anyone midfunk…

So if you are my friend on Facebook or on Twitter OR if you Like my FFK page on Facebook (only four friends away from 800! Like it now! Please?) you saw that I hinted at a new thing going on on the blog called 30in90. What does that mean you ask? Well it’s pretty simple.

30in90You see, 90 days from Friday, I will be reaching the 1,000th day of the start of my weight loss journey! Pretty crazy huh? It has had its ups and downs, but it has been a pretty epic journey so far. As most of you know, I have kind of been on a plateau for a while now. The 230’s have been my home base and 227 is still my weight loss threshold. I just can’t seem to break it. So when Megan brought up the 1,000 days thing, we started to plan our attack on our weight. Thus, 30in90 was born.

Tomorrow morning, we will weigh in. Our objective is to lose 30 pounds in 90 days. Day 1,000 is June 15th. It seems far away now, but it’s closer than we think. By then, I’m planning (not hoping) to be weighing in the 200’s, knocking at the door of Onderland. What’s even more of an encentive is that our 5-year anniversary is June 22nd. We really wanted to get new wedding photos done to show just how far we’ve come (and no, I will not be wearing my size 60 wedding suit…yes, I wore a size 60 suit jacket at one point. That’s five feet around. It still bothers me when I write that out loud.)

So how are we going to do this you ask? Simple: I’m going back in to crazy, dedicated, super weight loss mode. I was just thinking the other day about how my new friends/coworkers didn’t really know me when I would only eat the stuff I knew the calories of and stuff like that. This is a goal I am striving for. I’m going to work as hard as I can to get to that point. It might mean two-a-day workouts sometimes and not eating if I go out with friends, but it will totally be worth it. I’m doing this for me and my health, which also means I’m not going to starve myself, but rather taking the healthy path no matter how much it might suck sometimes. I can’t wait. Challenge accepted. So what do you think? Are we crazy? Or do you think we can do it? See ya tomorrow.

Pie Day

Day 902: Thursday Yo!

You guys, I’m seriously addicted to Freaks and Geeks. WHY IS IT ONLY ONE SEASON????

So I really don’t know why I haven’t been posting. It’s been kind of crazy around here, but things are starting to slow down. One thing I have been doing is lifting like a boss! It feels good to work out! I think it’s going to really help with my running too. I can’t wait to run another race (I’m kind of addicted to that too.)

As far as food today, I did really well! I brought my food to work, I portioned out everything and I made sure I had enough points for dinner with The Wolf and Phil (no, that’s not a 70’s folk band name.)

Here is the breakdown of the day, followed by photos of my ridiculous life.
Breakfast: 5 points
Lunch: 5 points
Snacks: 5 points
Dinner: About 24 points
Exercise Points: 10 activity points
1 Weekly Point used

I LOVE BEING ON TRACK!!!!

Let the photos commence!

Day 851: A Frustrating Weigh In Day

Today has been one of those days…

It’s one of those days when I just eat whatever. It all began with me not preparing my food in the morning which lead to just eating random things (not like tin cans or other random random things…I’m not a goat.) Really, it would have been considered a terrible day, and I guess other than second breakfast the content of the meals weren’t bad, but I’ve just been stuffed all day. Even after working out, which is a gross feeling.

But before all of that, there was a weigh in…and it went way better than I expected! I lost .6 pounds this week! I’m back in the 220’s! Sure it’s 229.6, but things are going well! I have a good feeling about where things are going…DOWN!!!

Alright, back to food journal stuffs…

Breakfast: I had a sliced hard boiled egg (yeah…I eat a lot of those now) on top of a sprouted-grain english muffin. That was delicious…then the roof caved in.

Photo Jan 15, 8 39 53 AMBreakfast Part 2: So like many offices around the U.S. (and like in Office Space) there are monthly activities such as potlucks to boost morale and to feed the poor college student workers. Today, everything looked amazing. There were casseroles, monkey bread (sadly not made of monkeys) and even deer sausage (God bless the South.) I stacked my plate. While it was pretty delicious, it threw the rest of my day off. Next time: all fruit. (Fun Fact: I ate everything on my plate in a counter-clockwise fashion. No clue.)

I even ripped off the price tag to hide the fact that I paid so much for a tuna salad sandwich. Either way, it held me over. Between that and the banana I had in my backpack.

We haven’t been there in a long time, but I had remembered that their salads were the size of small children. I had the Ultimate salad that had ham, chicken, cucumbers, and other salad stuff. Not to mention their awesome honey mustard. The salad was filling beyond belief, and really the only non-skinny rules thing about it were the croutons. But like I said, I’m still full which is always weird.

SAWS: After all of this eating and such, I was ready to come home and workout. I’ve been wanting to try this spin workout for a while, but I’ve been a little worried about it. I thought today would be the day to break through my eating funk.

So here’s the breakdown:
5 minute warm up
1 minute mountain climbers
4 minutes on the bike with 80% resistance (aka biking through mud)
2 minutes of slowly decreasing resistance
2 minutes of sprinting on the bike as hard as you can
1 minute of bicycle kicks on the ground
Repeat intervals three times and then finish off with a 5 minute cool down.

I burned 541 calories in something like 46 minutes. I pushed myself a lot harder than I have in a while and it felt awesome. It was what I needed to reset from today. I’m going to be sooooooooore tomorrow. #Jellolegs

So even though it was just an off day with my eating, it’s just a day. Time to brush them shoulders off and get back at it on Wednesday. No pity party. No frustration. No down talk. It’s just a part of the process. Keep your chin up folks! You got this! See ya tomorrow.
