Have you ever had one of those mornings where I wake up and think “I wonder what’s going to happen today…” not knowing that your day would turn out to be potentially life changing? Well…that happened today.
Here we go…
You ready?
Of course you are.
No. The W doesn’t stand for Wonder.
Today, Megan and I officially joined Weight Watchers!!!
For the past year and a half, I have been needing a push to get through these last 60 pounds to reach my goal weight (which is 167 pounds, aka 190 pounds lost). I haven’t been keeping track of everything like I should be and I haven’t held myself accountable. I needed a shift to something new. Weight Watchers PointsPlus is that next step.
Keep in mind, I wasn’t planning on this happening when I wrote last night’s post. The plan was to talk about possibly doing this down the line a little. But then at lunch, Megan and I discussed it and decided now is the right time because why should we wait?
So after work, we went over to the Weight Watchers location in Tallahassee and signed up. Then they asked if we were going to stay for the meeting at 6:00. “Why not?” we said! We also weighed in with my new “starting weight” which was rough (keep in mind that was in the evening with completely clothed). Basically, I am up 12 pounds from two weeks ago. Sooooo glad to be back on track!
The meeting was absolutely great! It was educational, supportive and convicting all rolled in to one. The challenge for this month is ask yourself when eating “is this worth the Points?” which is incredibly serendipitous. In my first post when I started my weight loss journey, I called my readers to hold me accountable and to ask me if what I was eating was worth the Points! (You can read that post here!) After the meeting, we met with our leader one-on-one and she gave us some more insight and explanation about the PointsPlus. We told her about about our own weight loss journeys and how excited we were to get started. When we asked her about switching from the old points system to the PointsPlus, she said, without missing a beat, “You’ve got a brand new car. Drive it!” And she was right! The eTools are awesome, the app is better than Calorie Counter and other apps I’ve used in the past, and I can tell that the meetings will make such a huge difference for my own accountability.
So logistically, I will be weighing in at meetings meetings, which will be Saturday mornings. I’m not sure if I’m going to count that as my official blog weigh in, but I’m leaning towards still weighing in on Tuesdays (I would love to get some feedback on this. Do you consider your WW weigh in as your official weigh in or do you weigh in at home first?) Either way, I will have a weigh in tomorrow. (I didn’t weigh last Tuesday because our scale had a battery problem and we were installing a washer and dryer where the scale usually is. Long story.)
Pretty crazy day. Can’t wait to report to you tomorrow with PointsPlus. See ya tomorrow.
So I’ll have more about everything this week.
Nathan, I would count Tuesday as your official weigh in. Clothes can weigh different amounts as you mentioned, and can show variants in how much you weigh. I’m so proud of you and reading your posts make me want to exercise.
WTG! I use my Weight Watchers weigh in as my “official” weigh in on my blog, regardless of when I actually get around to posting about it during the week. Heck, some weeks I don’t even get to it at all due to my work and school loads. LOL
You have made me cry. I am so proud of you guys and in awe of what you are going after!!! I’ve went back to school myself and I’ve went through surgery and work out, etc., but you are amazing!! Always moving forward. All the best to you. You are in my daily prayers.
I weigh in on Saturdays and I count it as my official weight. I don’t actually own a scale. I resubscribed. I’m ready to do this too!
Oh, you know I’m stoked for this news! 🙂 You guys are going to rock it! As for an official weigh-in, I count my Weight Watchers one. I try not to weigh-in at all except for my meeting because that scale can really mess with you. I mean, are you going to be okay with the scale on Tuesday saying one thing and the one on Saturday saying something (possibly a gain) else? Just think about how it may affect you mentally.
I knew you would be stoked about it! lol We are so excited!
I have thought about this a thousand different ways and I’m still not too sure. The fact of the matter is that I do weigh myself a lot, especially when I wasn’t counting my points so it would be really nothing new.
I have been weighing in once a week for the past three years in the same…outfit on the same scale in the same kitchen and I don’t want to lose that consistency. You know? That scale is where it all began (I apologize if I sound ridiculously nostalgic about my scale but it’s true! 🙂 )
One option I have been thinking about is weighing in on Saturday mornings at home and at WW where the only difference will be the clothes, or lack thereof, that I’m wearing.
All in all, I don’t want one weigh in to count more or less than the other one in my mind because if that was the case, why weigh in at WW then?
Thoughts?
I think I’m getting close to figuring this all out, and I have you, one of my favorite bloggers, to thank!
I agree with Brooke. Isn’t this your new awakening? The second part of this journey? Why don’t you report on your WW meetings on the Saturday blog and have no Tuesday blogs as an homage to the past.
Way to go! Also, congrats on the washer and dryer!
Lol thanks! July has been the month of change!
My mom goes to WW meetings, she goes every week in the same outfit to minimize fluctuation in weight due to clothing, she says a lot of the people there do the same thing. She also weighs herself at home and knows that her scale and the WW scale are always a little off from each other so she can keep track throughout the week at home knowing how the numbers will change when at WW. Either way, using the WW weigh in or the Tuesday at home scale weigh in I’m sure you’ll see the results you are wanting, good luck! 🙂
I am planning on wearing the same thing every time too. (In fact, I need to figure that out! WARDROBE!!!!) I absolutely love and agree with your last sentence. No matter what clothes I’m wearing or how many times I weigh in, if I’m staying the course, the rest will follow. Thanks for the comment!
